Credit card fraud refunds
MBNA Credit card. On 15th
January my credit card statement was produced. On the same day two
transactions appeared on that statement that I had not authorised. One being a charge
and the other being a non-sterling transaction fee for said charge. I immediately
contacted MBNA and spoke with their fraud team who…

credit card limits question
I have very little idea about credit cards - I've a barclaycard which I've had for over 30 years always paid in full every month. I am looking at applying for a 0% on purchase card to free up some cash for a few months (selling two houses to buy one, think we will end up one of us owning two for a while so might be a few…

Balance transfer
Hi, my daughter has £ 7200 debt from 3 credit cards and has other loans amounting to £6000 which results in about £300 interest monthly. Her credit score is fair but she is only able to get a £1500 balance transfer for 6 months. Unless there is another way, I am willing to help to pay off the debt and she repay me by…

Auto renewal using debit/credit card vs DDI
We have a digital newspaper subscription paid annually. We recently received a notification from the newspaper telling us that the automatic payment due next November had been cancelled. I wondered if this was a scam so called the newspaper digital subscriptions department. We didn't know if this was a debit card auto…

Money transfer to pay loan?
I have the option to transfer 8k as a money transfer from my virgin credit card for a 3.5% fee- interests free for 13monthd. A couple of weeks ago I took a 10k loan out over 4 years to purchase a car, at 8.9% with mbna. Would it be a good option to go with this money transfer? It won't clear my loan, but will greatly knock…

Buying a car with a 0% credit card
Hi, I need to replace my car and don't have the savings to buy, so I was thinking of maxing out my 9k credit card that is still in a 0% deal to buy a used car. Can I pay for a used car at a garage and then when my 0% deal is about to run out, transfer the balance to a new card with a 0% deal?

Amex Gold or Platinum for Direct Airline Bookings
Comapring the two, it looks like the Gold is a better option when booking flights with airlines direct at 2xpoints per £. Given that flights will be my main source of points, do you think the Gold is the better bet? thanks

Asda Credit Card 10% back includes fuel purchases
I noticed the Asda credit card was mentioned in a recent MSE email but it did not include the fact that you can earn 10% rewards on fuel as well as the usual groceries and George. It is unusual to get a decent reward/bonus on petrol/diesel so I thought it was worth a mention. 10% back is for 90 days only and capped at £100…

Scammed
Anyone know how I can get my money back? Someone on Etsy was pretending to be customer support and I was selling something on Etsy at the time. Said to receive the payment from the product, I needed to have £300 in my Revolut account and had to verify with them. They said it wouldn’t cost me anything but they’ve taken the…

Credit card eligibility calculator
Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere. The credit card eligibility calculator on MSE isn't working for me. I get an error of "Sorry, we can’t get your results right now We're working on it, please try again later" It's been doing this for months. Anyone else have this problem? Any other ideas?

Cash interest repayment
I lost my debit card in the lead up to Christmas and knew I would need some cash for a few outings and presents, so I withdrew a lot of cash from my credit card (more than I actually needed) and made a repayment to my card to cover the whole amount. I made the repayment pretty quickly because the terms of the card say…

How is interest calculated on credit cards....
Quick question. I have a balance on a credit card (I normally pay off in full each month, before you ask :D ). I paid a substantial amount off the balance by the payment due date. I then was able to pay a further large amount off a few days after the payment date (so a good three weeks before the next payment date). I…

Santander CC stops working - yet again
For the fourth time in under a year the chip on my CC has failed totally - no contactless, no PIN. The latest card has lasted under a month. Other cards have lasted years without problems. Has anyone else had similar problems - and have they rectified them without getting a CC with another provider.

Closing credit card accounts
I have a few credit card accounts open, having just paid off a balance transfer that finished this month. I would like to know from those who have more current knowledge of credit cards, which accounts to keep open and which ones to close. None of the cards have any promotional offers! What are your thoughts on closing all…
