First meal in new house (with Aga!)
Hi all We're supposed to be moving to a new house soon (supposed to be is key here, it's been a long battle which is still ongoing but I am planning anyway) and would like to do my menu plan for the first few days at least. I'll stick to what we normally have in the winter once we're in and settled. However I was thinking…

Pork Shoulder
I have the urge to make a pork pie that I made very successfully a couple of years back (its a Hairy B's one) - I have't made it since as it serves about 10 and its just me and OH - and he is veggie :rotfl: but I plan to give some to friends / freeze some (will the pasty freeze ok?) The recipe calls for diced pork shoulder…

Sweets treats for a teenage Crohns Sufferer
My lovely granddaughter was diagnosed with Crohns disease earlier this year and I've been skyping with my daughter today and discussing how difficult it is going to be at Christmas with food type treats. I want to send her some sweets of some description, chocolate is completely off the menu (and poor girl loves it) as it…

Voile curtains - any reuses?
I am having to replace my delicate voile curtains as despite a no-spin cycle, my new washing machine has left them ripped in several places :o They were really beautiful, albeit 15 years old. Regulars on this board will know my dislike of waste. I intend to take the weights out of the hems - for quite what purpose I do not…

Cleaning the bath
Before I get shot down on the amount of threads about this - I have been reading on a new cleaning mission I am about to embark upon and have been using the indexed collections for reference. But I don't want to do a 'deep clean' on the bath, don't have scum to get rid of, or kids toys marks etc. But on a daily or rather…

Another smell problem
This is the first time I have lived in a bungalow with floorboards. Before we moved in we decorated and had the small lounge and bedroom carpeted with a good underlay. When the summer comes or when the bungalow has been closed up and we re enter there is a peculiar smell that seems to come from just inside the lounge door.…

Presentation help
I have to do a presentation on a familiar topic for my English assessment this week and I thought about doing it on Budgeting and money saving. Any ideas on what angle I could take on this - I've sat at this computer for hours today and just keep going round in circles.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Hoping you guys can…

Cooking baked sweet potato in halogen oven? Tinfoil?
I put my rack in the halogen the other day and put some tin foil over it and put the potato on top, because i had some steak in there too and don't have a banking tray. It seemed to make the skin a bit crispy. If i wrap the potato in tinfoil will it make the skin go mega crispy? And how long would it take to cook. It is a…

Two singles in a double cover?
Hiya, Just a quick one. My double duvet got ripped and went lumpy in my broken washing machine. I've got two single duvets packed away under the bed. Do you reckon if I sew them together I could get away with using them as a double if i put them in a double duvet cover? We tried the continental one single duvet each method…

Hello, I'm new to MSE. Well, I was on here years ago (2009) as Princess Lou. Has since closed down my email for that account, and can't get back on to it. I miss it on here, and had made some lovely online friends during the time I was on here, as well as taking part in freezer makeover that LoveFoodHateWaste ran through…

Pickling Chili's
I bought a large bag of ys chili's a few days ago with a view to finding a recipe to pickle them. But there are so many ways to do it. I was wondering if anyone here had an easy/quick way they could advise? (we buy the pickled jalapenos for pizza's, fajitas etc so that was along the vein of what I was thinking)

Vegetarians. There doesn't seem to be a food/drink forum, so . .
Can anyone please help me with vegetarian cooking. My son has decided that he wants to be vegetarian (he is an adult), and I think we've been doing ok so far with it. We've used a bit of quorn, and we're getting some nice vegetarian recipes from the internet. I say "we", because I have been eating a lot of the same things…
