O/S Daily Tuesday 20th October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, I’ll wake him shortly to get up and ready for school.
Getting light, dry but chilly.
Dinner last night was tortellini and ravoli in either creamy tomato or mushroom sauce – was delicious, also we were given some HG pears, DH is the only person in the house that likes them but he only eats them when they are rock hard, these had started to go soft, so peeled them and a couple of apples, cooked them and put a crumble topping on, and so had a dessert ready for last nights’ dinner. DH and myself had a little with some custard, LO’s in the fridge. Tonight’s dinner is an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Work yesterday was busy in the morning but soon settled down, and wasn’t that busy, but given that we’ve had the past 2 weeks where we’ve had horrendous Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays – and we’re in the middle of the month, we’ll be busy again as we approach the end of the month.
Have good Tuesdays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
It's raining! That's a novelty, just hope it remembers to stop. Washing on the airer, I put it in the living room last night as the log burner had been on so it is half dry this morning.
PL made and DW emptied, house still clean and tidy(ish) from before I went away. I just have the suitcase to put in the loft and the summer stuff to put away. I must do some paperwork soon or I will drown under it!
Not feeling 100% today but did have a good nights sleep. I'm sure I will forget I am not feeling too good when I get to work, it's so busy. Should be going out for a tapas meal tonight with work colleagues - to tell the truth I am a bit full of tapas!
Off for a shower, hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Colder here this morning and too dark to see what the day will be like, but hopefully no rain.
Off to work for me hopefully it wont be too busy. Dinner tonight will be sausages with new potatoes and roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, dd will have the same but with a veggie sausage.
Shopping done online last night and tonight I will need to do a wash and have a tidy round.
TA thinking of you this morning hope all goes well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
Yesterday morning was a disaster, we went into town and Scampi kicked off at everyone. We went to the beach so he could burn off some energy but then had to walk back past the shops to get to the car, he was a nightmare til we reached the car park. We drove a couple of miles to a cider farm (where I had quite a few testers, lol), there were a few people about but he behaved perfectly. Went to another beach where there were lots of dogs playing and quite a few people, including kids, and he was an angel. I just do not understand how his mind works
Our little place is behind a big house (the house is on the sea front, they've built this place at the end of the back garden), we haven't got a sea view but can see the sea either side of the house. I went outside at 6am this morning, I could just about hear the sea but apart from that it was silent. The sky was clear, I've never seen so many stars! It was amazing. I sat outside just as it started getting light and watched a couple of fishing boats go out. If they hadn't had their lights on, I wouldn't have noticed them but I could just make out the silhouettes. I'd have walked out to the front but I still had my pyjamas on, lol.
Bags of Celebrations were on offer in Morrisons so we bought some, I've taken to eating a few after my weetabix every day. It's just as well I'm spending so much time on beaches, at least I'm burning them off

Morning all.
Back late last night after a weekend away, been visiting family and a funeral yesterday.
Have two days off so going to make the most of them, cleaning and tidying house and garden today and visiting friends tomorrow.
Quick trip in to town later have a parcel to post and want to buy a sack of potatoes, will be tasking Mr D along to load them into the car.
Dinner this evening is cottage pie and veg. Biggest job today will be giving our baby girl a bath, she hates having a bath and tries to make herself invisible :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good day all. xx

Morning folks.
Tru who knows how a dogs mind works, nine people can walk past my Labrador and she will ignore them but then bark furiously at the tenth! Your holiday home sounds lovely, haven't been to Cornwall for years but you are making me miss it
Busy day today catching up on the washing, first load already in, luckily a nice day is forecasted so fingers crossed will get some dried outside, also have two airers so all will be utilised. Also need to get to yard and see my boy.
Have a hair appointment in Uni city this afternoon, have been going to the same place for years which is run by two guys, the atmosphere is really laid back and gives me chance to relax, also read some of the glossy mags that would never buy for myself :rotfl:
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning everyone.
Grey, cold and damp outside. Think the weather has turned eventually.
Yesterday I took mum home, dropped in on a friend who had made calendars of his own art work, sent to car dealer for the software update and then drove home. Whacked again after a day of driving.
Today I am doing nothing...much. The house is tidy and the dishwasher was on yesterday. I'll change the spare room bed linen as there's a friend flying up from East Mids on Friday for the weekend. I doubt it'll be a warm weekend.
The other day when I was driving away from the house I moved into a passing place to let a cyclist through. The woman had what looked like a baby seat on the handle bars with a little black poodle-like dog sitting in it, strapped in and looking forward. Was delightful!
Right, I need to get up. TA - hope your Liverpool visit goes well.
Happy Tuesday everyone.0 -
Morning all
Glorious morning down here in Kent, sun out, slight breeze, washing on the line.
Off to the allotment this morning, some over wintering onions to plant, and will pick some leeks and broccoli to have for dinner
Went to see Suffragette yesterday, very thought provoking, a great film.
Have a good day all, just going to talk via Internet to GDDs in Oz and have breakfast/dinner with them!Carolbee0 -

Good Luck in Liverpool to you both and fingers are crossed for you.
Have had a very crowded and busy weekend as older DDs birthday was yesterday but we celebrated it on Saturday as that was when all of us could get together. The sparkler candle on the cake was very impressive as were the balloons and banners etc.
I met one of the dds yesterday in Leeds and we went shopping for clothes (I has already done that for her twin last week) as an extra present. Originally we hoped to find a winter coat and boots but we hit a real winning streak in the sales and found a pair of ankle boots and tall boots on sale so snapped them up. Went to tkmaximus and found a designer coat that she loved (that was cheaper than one from mands) . We finished up by going to Debs sale and found a smart trench coat that she liked that was cheaper than the one in mands so that got scooped up quickly too. She starts a new job in a week or so and needed smart outerwear.
DD took me to a vietnamese restaurant in the Trinity centre and I impressed her and myself by managing to use chopsticks.
Today looks like being fairly quiet and am hoping to get some washing done and dried outside then look at some letters that need answering.
DDs are suggesting I get new carpets to help sell the house but I dread the upheaval.
Just realised I need to put out the recycling so will have to dash outside.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Good morning everyone
I've just made myself some boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast and they were lovely. I have been having porridge for a while now but I get very hungry by about 11am so thought I would try having eggs to see if I can last longer before lunch.
Hubby and the girls are gone so I am here on my own today, no visitors are expected so it will be a long day for me. The girls forgot to take the recycling out this morning so I did it, I know it doesn't sound much but I haven't felt able to leave my house for weeks now so it is a pretty major thing for me to go out the front. I feel very brave now and am pondering a trip to town. It's hubby's birthday in a couple of weeks and he really wants a t bone steak for his birthday meal. I know they sell them in the butchers in town so I could maybe go and get one and put it in the freezer.
I will be making a chicken and leek pie for tea with some mash and carrots. The curry we had last night was very tasty so that was good. I will have half a chicken left after today so will put my thinking cap on as to what to make with it.
Anyway, that's all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one. Lousy night last night, yesterday afternoon I helped OH weed the front garden should have known better, every nerve, muscle and bone hurt despite taking my painkillers and my left leg just would not give up. It was after 4am before I finally dropped off. Good job OH slept through the it.
Fine morning, laundry to put out when I do get up.
Storage heaters did come on last night. OH says the kitchen is like a sauna, so need to turn that one down a bit. I must admit, compared to the one we had in the kitchen in Haddington, this one is twice the size. Guess it's really too big for the room.
Another load of laundry to go in tonight, just the ironing to do then.0
