O/S Daily Wednesday 21st October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, I’ll wake him shortly to get up and ready for school.
Getting light, very wet underfoot and still raining, looks set in for the day, yuk!
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, treats from the tins or ice cream for dessert. Tonight dinner will be beef casserole, I’ll use up the LO’s from the roast with it, and serve some more veg with it. I’ll get that going this afternoon.
I’m only working until lunchtime today so will do all the normal chores when I get home, and keep going with the list that doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter, as things get done and crossed off, I seem to add something else! At least it’s keeping my brain occupied and busy, but at the moment not overwhelming me.
Work yesterday wasn’t too busy and DS1 and I went to his bank and they advised us (after loads of questions re his identity because at present he hasn’t got anything to prove who he is, fortunately we’d taken his cheque book, letters from them to him, his out of date passport etc, and the crime ref number) they advised that a new card and pin number had been requested on Monday and could see where old card had been stopped, they confirmed no transactions on the account either, and when we got home there was a letter waiting for him to advise that a new card and pin number had been requested and he would receive them shortly – so hopefully everything is getting sorted.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Dark outside and there was heavy rain for a good part of the night.
Yesterday was very restful for me. Apart from a quick trip into town for one item I stayed put and pottered around the house. I ate leftovers and bits and pieces and very nice it was too.
I have no idea about today though I must speak to at least my new five students on the phone. Nothing too taxing!
Back under the duvet now.
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good morning, thank you nmic for starting us off.
It has been raining for most of the night and still raining now.
I had a nasty shock when I switched on this morning because it was in the new format, but when I logged in it went back to the old (thank goodness) I am afraid I am set in my ways
DGD1 arrived safely home from Florence last night, but very tired. She is back at work today so I sent her off to bed and told her she can tell us all about it tonight. She is a kind young thing because she said we had stayed up for her to come home, and I told her sleep was more important for her.
TA I hope you had all your questions answered yesterday and feel a little easier about what is involved.
Judi thank goodness you are going to see the doctor, I hope it isn't a chest infection now.
Have a good day all

Morning All
Yesterday's rain didn't come to anything until last night, then it was very wet. Not raining at the moment but at least it is milder this morning. No washing to do today. DW emptied and PL made - chicken salad and a jelly left at work from yesterday.
I have a mammogram today so will go to work then nip out for that, meeting DD after work for a trip to C0stco, they have decaff coffee on offer. Hopefully DD will make my tea after.
Had a haircut after work yesterday, then went for a lovely meal with work colleagues. Woke up at 2am with horrible stomach ache, not sure if something I ate didn't agree with me. I think I will try gluten free for a while to see if that helps.
Hope you are all well, MM happy birthday to your DGS, glad to hear the twins are doing well.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Still dark here so cant see what the weather is doing but I think we are due rain for the day.
Woken up feeling rough my head is pounding and I have a runny nose etc, will go to work but if I feel worse will come home, typical that I have the next two days off as I am working the weekend.
Mums for dinner tonight and I think she is doing a meat pie with mash etc which will be nice after a long day.
Wont be doing too much tonight an early night is in order I think.
TA hope all went well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning one and all. Overnight rain here, it's the first rain we have had in ages. It feels very mild though.
Yesterday's visit to the Royal Liverpool went smoothly. Really the specialist didn't tell us anything the NET nurse hadn't told us last time. Though he did show us the scan he'd had done on our last visit. It looks frightening when you see these things in black and white. So still on track for the radionuclide therapy to start on the 9th Nov as planned. Once again he repeated this isn't a cure but is the best treatment they can offer to keep it under control. More blood tests and a swab then free to go.
Whilst it was nice of DS to take us, both of us prefer to go on the train. I'm not a fan of motorways these days and Mr TA is not a good passenger, he prefers to be the driver! So, whenever possible, and as long as he feels well enough, we will go by train in the future.
We stopped off for lunch on the way home at a nice fish restaurant we've wanted to try for ages. We could understand why it was so busy as the meal was excellent and fully deserves it's good reputation.
I'm bringing the shopping forward a day as we need to drop in Mr TA's scrip request at the surgery today. Then onwards to Sainsbobs for some odd bits and finally Aldi and then Iceland for more odd bits. The 3 DGDs are here for tea and sleepover, arriving one by one from their various after school activities, Ballet, tap and Rainbows. Tea yet to be decided!
Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if wanted/needed and take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning folks
Was dark, wet and windy when took the girls out this morning, Rosie the lab has a teflon coat so was ok but Tilly spaniel came home wet through, think may need to get her some sort of coat especially if we are going to have rough winter.
Yesterday was obviously the day for haircuts, nice trip into Uni city for mine, was just me and my hairdresser in the salon so peaceful downtime and he makes a fab cup of tea
Need to go into horsey town this morning for petrol so will pick up some fruit and veg as well, probably from our local farm shop as have hankering for some of their sausages. Otherwise it's more washing and some prep work for my course tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Good Morning everyone, the rain has only just arrived here but we need it badly, can't remember the last time it rained properly and although most of the crops are now out and harvested the grass needs this badly.
I have a doctors appointment this morning for a blood pressure check and then I'm getting the bus into the city, we don't have either dog to walk today and It's not looking like we'll be able to get outside to work so He Who Knows will be hogging the computer and I'll be better off out! I can never work out why going to see the GP gives me such stress levels, after all they only fix you if you're poorly but I hate it with a vengeance, took my blood pressure this morning and it's significantly higher than it has been for weeks and I know when the doc takes it it will be sky high, ridiculous situation for a feet on the ground me!!! wish I knew how to stop it happening!
Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Its persisting down here so last nights washing will have to dry inside, light cotton stuff can go in the dryer heavier stuff on the airer in the back room.
The chaps were coming this morning to put a new chimney pot on, have just rung to say they will come after lunch if the rain stops.
Fed up with the storage heaters already. Yesterday it was too warm, today, after turning down the heat intake a bit the sitting room one is hardly warm at all, the kitchen one is ok. I really hate the wretched things, but will have to put up with them until the council find the dosh to put gas central heating in.
Nothing planned for the day, so will maybe do a it of sewing, still cannot find the piece of cream fabric I bought, no idea where I have put it, so a bit stumped for now.
Salad for supper tonight, think I will do a jacket spud with it.0 -
Good morning everyone
It's raining pouring here this morning. The girls all wore their coats to school for a change so it must have been bad. Max had to be pushed out the back door this morning as well as he really doesn't like getting rained on. Meanwhile, I am sat here all snug and warm:D.
TA, I'm very pleased to hear that it all went smoothly for you and Mr TA. Fingers crossed that the treatment does as it's supposed to and Mr TA feels the benefit quickly.
Well, I almost made it out the door yesterday. I got as far as putting my coat and shoes on but couldn't quite do it. I remain optomistic that I will get out soon. Maybe on the weekend if one of the girls will come with me that would be better I think. I really need to buy some birthday cards and wrapping paper as well as the steak.
I am stuck as to what to make for tea tonight. I have some leftover chicken but we have had chicken for the past few days. I will have a rummage in the freezer and see what I can make. The house is fairly tidy and I'm not expecting any visitors so just some washing to do.
I hope you all have a great day despite the weather, take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:
We tried going to town again and Scampi was great, he grumbled a couple of times but stopped as soon as I corrected him. We didn't stay long, I didn't want to push my luck
It's raining here but it's quite warm. Not sure what we're doing today, I'll take Scampi down to the sea for a while then see what the weather's doing. If the rain carries on we'll just potter about here and hope we don't get too bored. I've just done a load of washing, we've spent so much time on the beach and in rock pools that everything was smelling of seaweed

It's back to the future day, I'm tempted to sit down later this afternoon and watch all three films
