Voile curtains - any reuses?

I am having to replace my delicate voile curtains as despite a no-spin cycle, my new washing machine has left them ripped in several places
They were really beautiful, albeit 15 years old. Regulars on this board will know my dislike of waste. I intend to take the weights out of the hems - for quite what purpose I do not know, yet - but other than stuffing, I don't know whether the material itself can be gainfully used. Am guessing by the time I've finished with them, not even the chaz will want them and the only thing they might be fit for is a child's dressing-up box. Any other suggestions?

It can look a little messy (but does the job), if you grow your own veggies, they can be used to keep birds off the crops.0

You can make little gift bags out of the voile - tiny ones filled with a handful of sugared almonds would look lovely hanging from a Christmas tree. I've also seen lavender sachets made with voile & pretty ribbons.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Are they strong enough to make shopping bags? I've made some really pretty ones from a voile curtain and they fold up so small they slip in pockets and bags for emergencies.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20

I was going to suggest little bags for treats too. otherwise if you have some dark coloured cushions you could cut strips off the voile, hem it and wrap around the cushions and tie in a huge bow (very pretty) - or maybe make a table runner or two. or use to add a panel to duvet covers.0

I use them for produce bags, so to put carrots/fruit/etc.. they are so light, their weight is irrelevant and I hate the plastic baggies in shops.
I've also been meaning to make up a couple of bags for washing to keep delicates together (mind you, this might not be so successful for you given that's how they fell apart)

On reflection - surely your new washing machine shouldn't have done this? Might be worth querying it with whoever sold it to you.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

If you have access to herbs etc., you could make your own bouquet garni and use the voile to make the little bags.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

If there's enough fabric what about a voile blind or window screen?
On the bag theme, voile would make pretty gift bags too.0
