O/S Daily Thursday 22nd October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, I’ll wake him shortly to get up and ready for school.
Getting light, seems to have dried up after yesterdays’ awful wet day – seems milder too.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, LO’s of cauli/broc cheese, roasties, Yorkshires, so just served carrots and peas with it – turned out much better than I expected, didn’t use the slow cooker as everything seems to have a funny taste when I use it, so put it in the oven on low at 3pm, and it was lovely and the meat was nice and tender but not dry. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns and beans – not particularly healthy but have some bits that need using up.
Work was very quiet yesterday, so the morning dragged, probably due to the continuous rain and no-one wanting to get wet.
Will crack on with the chores list today, and just potter along, without getting overwhelmed by the list that has chores crossed off and then others added! So never seems to be getting less.
Keep safe and well x

Morning nmlc and all to follow. What a windy night we've had, I had to close the window at one point. It's forecast to ease off later this afternoon.
Just me and the youngest DGD up at the minute, watching Peppa Pig. The other two will be to waken up shortly and then all systems go to have them fed, washed, dressed and hair plaited and out in the car by 8.15.
Then a peaceful day until the middle one is to pick back up from school, feed and take to her swimming club for 5.30. When we get back DD will drop off the other two after their respective yoga/netball lessons for another sleepover. I'm getting too old for this!!
Not much planned for the inbetween time, other than general pottering and tidying up. The house looks like a bomb has dropped when the three of them are here.
Have a good day all and (((HUGS)))) to those needing/wanting them. Especially BB, hope you soon feel a bit easier. Have a good day all, take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Wet and windy today, it looks like one of those days when it doesn't get properly light all day.
BB - Hope your aches and pains ease soon.
Judi - How's the chest?
Hugs to anyone not feeling too good.
Picked DD up from work yesterday, went to C0stco and T£sco, she cooked salmon and veggies which was lovely. We skyped DS2, he's off to Marrakesh today for a break, hadn't spoken with him for ages so had a good catch up. He had been in London at the weekend and went to the Scotland/Australia rugby match. I think he's still devastated!
I have some training today at work, hope it's not too hard, my brain is full!
Have a good day, hope the wind isn't too troublesome. Take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
Thanks donny-gal I wouldn't have thought of that. Scampi has a problem with dark skin too, I hardly ever mention it to anyone because however I word it, it sounds racist
I enjoyed the Back To The Future marathon yesterdayI was sat down for so long that I ached when I got up to move around, lol.
So I need to get moving today. I'll start with a walk on the beach then come back for a cuppa. I'll make some ham salad rolls and flasks of coffee, pack them in the car then decide where we're going

Morning all,
Raining here and looks like its set in for the day, typical as its my day off ! I came home from work mid morning yesterday I felt so rough, I slept for three hours straight and then was back in bed by 9 last night, I still feel rough so a day indoors is needed I think.
I had a e-mail from the people who took Noodles, they are struggling with her as she pulls so much I did explain this to them at the start but they insisted they could manage, I really don't know what's going to happen to her, I wish we could have her back
Something with chips for dinner tonight will go and look in freezer after this, I have a new outside lamp being delivered today and the shopping is coming later.
BB hope your aches ease soon xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,Judi - How's the chest?
A little easier thank you. I only feel like ive got half a sack of spuds bearing down on my chest rather than a full sack. I slept for a full 4 hours in the night which has been a first since the weekend.:D I still sound all crackly though but it will ease.
Waiting for my daughter to bring my Grandson for the day before she heads off to work. It only seems like hours since i gave him back from his 24 hour stay.
Message from 'Youngest'. "Dad says he's really ill and he's forgotten his phone". Oh jeez, i'm up for another marathon weekend i can see it coming up. I just love the way he's always sicker than me. I can cope with illness, other peoples illness, just cant cope when i'm ill too. Oh well, at least he wont be ringing me every 5 minutes to tell me how ill he is.
The guilt is overwhelming. Its Moms 87th birthday and i wont be able to visit her. Ive written her a card for my daughter to take down and i'll give her her gifts when i see her in person. I'm doing exactly the right thing in staying away but i still feel bad. The girls at the home have made her a bit of a birthday cake so i know she will be spoiled.
Oh well, best get moving.
Onwards and forwards

Ive been meaning to share this for a few days but not got round to it. My daughter sent me a picture of Soldier and their new foster child out in South Africa. For our new posters, Soldier is on the right.

Morning everyone, feel better vibes to those folk who need them.
Dark first thing when took the girls out but thankfully dry after yesterday's almost continuous rain, but it was so mild, come out of college at 9pm and it was still 14 degrees.
Have a pile of ironing to get through this morning, more washing and want to get some soup made up for the freezer, I was hungry when I got home last night but not wanting a big meal and a bowl of soup would have hit the mark.
This afternoon am meeting up with good pal that haven't seen for a while, so tea, cake and loads of laughter to come, looking forward to it.
Best get on, have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning everyone.
The high winds kept me awake until past midnight last night sonive just woken - to blustery winds and grey skies.
Yesterday I did the pottering around thing. Then I rang JL to order another set of curtains, this time for the living room. I'll go down to collect them next Thursday.
Tomorrow I've got a friend arriving for the weekend, her flight gets in at 10am so I'll need to be up sharp to get down there in time. Today will be flicking a duster around, dragging a vacuum around and meal prepping. We'll be too busy catching up and drinking wine to do much cooking, think 'heating up' will be the order of the weekend.
I'm off to visit some neighbours this morning (well, a mile and a bit away) who are both artists and graphic designers. I'm excited to see their studio and work.
Good to hear you're on the mend Judi, a crackling chest is not a great thing!
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. It's going to be a long winter I think.
Happy Thursday to all.0 -
Good morning all,
Very overcast here, a disturbed night for me again, Himself was wandering the house again, we are going t buy some Kalms today to see if it will help with his sleep.
Judi, a better night for you, but a way to go yet, and I assume not looking forward to the weekend very much. Doesn't Soldier look happy and he looks so well, they were lucky to find each other?
Nothing much planned for today, have just washed my hair, will get dressed and then go out for the Kalms. I think he has got into this pattern now and it will be hard to break unless he is able to sleep most of the night.
Have a good day all

Judi, sorry I forgot, Happy birthday to Mum. You know you are doing the right thing, you can't take your bug into the home, and they will all make a fuss of her. I know you are disappointed, but just think when you are able to go in your Mum can have another birthday celebration, open her presents, and perhaps just buy a little cup cake for her.
