Safety question - help asap pls
I am afraid I have been putting wet pans on my oven hobs, and they have got rusty. Please can someone tell me how to clean them. Has the rust corroded them and made them unsafe? Here is a pic http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee447/starfish53/?action=view¤t=DSC00309.jpg

OS questions
Hi everyone, After a very unsuccessful week of budgeting I decided to take a new approach and look online at what's cheap (so Sainsbury's Basics) and work out what I could eat that was Weight Watchers friendly. I've been pleasantly surprised but now I have some questions for you guys (just general ones)..... 1) Can I use…

Dessert for 20
I've been asked to make a dessert to serve 20 to feed homeless people at a homeless shelter. I think this is a really miserable time of year to be on the streets, so would like to make something really nice. Not so worried about it being cheap as chips as this isn't a regular commitment just an occasional one. The only…

All things FISH...
I'm one of these people who likes to know they are eating food killed in a fair way and that is above all SUSTAINABLE. I get really confused with what is the best stuff to buy when it comes to fish. Price is important, but id rather eat less of it and know its ethical. Line caught? farmed? wild? what i HATE is dredging,…

Homemade Flavourings?
I just came across something in my inbox that suggested making vanilla extract by splitting vanilla pods and adding them to vodka for a couple of months. So I was wondering has anyone done this or anything similar? How did it turn out. What other home made flavourings/extracts has anyone tried? This one pressed my…

buying or making your own masala?
I'm looking out for a really good, medium strength masala to use in veggie dishes and chicken curries and for marinating whole chicken. I haven't found anything I like in the supermarkets and as I'm not well, don't want to trek around East London looking for shops (I'm sure there are loads) that sell already made masala. I…

Chicken Emergency. broken foot?
One of my chickens had a run in with our fast moving border collie and she has been limping all morning, we noticed some blood and had a look and it looked like she had split the skin on the underside of her foot. She is still limping so I have brought her in and have bathed it in salt water. One of the outer toes/claws is…

Washing - fewer tablets?
I have a stock of clothes detergent tablets I'm using up. I also have some Sainsbury's value detergent, which I think is great. The boxes the tablets come in (some Tesco, some Sainsbury's) say to use two tablets. I live in a softwater area. Assuming that I'm washing stuff like clothes and sheets with no stains just…

Gardeners pie
I am having a bit of a senior moment. I remember i used to make a veggie dish called gardeners pie after seeing Brian Turner make it on this morning about 3/4 years ago. I seem to also remember it had carrots, parsnips and i think it was sweet potato in. I tried a forum search and discovered old posts of mine saying i was…

Cleaning oilcloth?
I bought 3 metres of oilcloth for a tablecover years ago (its fabric with a pvc upper coating) and it's looking a bit grubby from the underside now. Although you aren't meant to wash it, only wipe it with a damp cloth, in the past I have bunged it in the machine for a quick wash at 30 degrees and it's been fine. It's…
