Gardeners pie

Options
I am having a bit of a senior moment.

I remember i used to make a veggie dish called gardeners pie after seeing Brian Turner make it on this morning about 3/4 years ago.

I seem to also remember it had carrots, parsnips and i think it was sweet potato in.

I tried a forum search and discovered old posts of mine saying i was making it but not the recipe.

I wondered if anyone could help me out, as i know there are some wonderful OS people who actually are organised and write things down rather than rely on memory. :D

Thanks for any input.

Can you remember what sort of pie it is? That probably sounds like a really daft question, but I make something I call 'gardeners pie' that's vegetables in cheese sauce topped with sliced potatoes. It's from an old Good Food magazine recipe: I can dig out the recipe for that, but I have no idea if it's the same sort of thing you're after?

  • I don't think it was a cheese sauce. Maybe it was in tomatoes, but i really am struggling. The veg was all cooked first, and then put in a pie, with the sweet potato mash on top, and then possibly some grated cheese.

I'm sure it is really simple, but i just can't remember. Maybe it was just carrots and parsnip in a tin of toms with sweet potato mash? Who knows. In fact, i might just try that anyway.

Could you post that recipe anyway please as i am always pleased to get a new one and that sounds good too. I'm trying to get a few veggie meals into the meal plan without my DH moaning about the lack of meat, and the original recipe was popular when i made it.

No problem at all - it's here. I'm not a great veg eater but I'm very fond of this pie: I've made it with all sorts of veggies, not just the ones listed in the recipe.

I hope you manage to track down your original recipe, too.

  • That is not the one, but it also looks like a good recipe to try. I have tried googling it, searching here, looking for Brian Turner recipes, and looking at the This Morning site, but looks like i might be out of luck.

Never mind. Thanks for trying to help me, and i have a couple of things i can try instead. I can always get the family to try it once.
