I'm trying (again) to add more new recipes into my plan and keep cooking for leftovers and the freezer. This week we're having: Thursday - Leftover carrot and coriander soup with bread - going to make up pizza…

Creamy Veg Casserole
Does anyone here remember back in the late 80's maybe early 90's Knorr or some such doing a creamy veg casserole packet mix? It basically had potatoes, carrots and broccoli and maybe onion added which were added to the packet mix. It was a white sauce but I am not sure if it was cheese based?! I have scoured the net to…

Need help with drying my 7yo DD's gypsy-style crinkly skirt--never looks good to me?
It's not the usual style where it has several tiers sewn together. It's straight down all the way around apart from a dropped waistband at the front only. I have twisted it when wet and then let it dry naturally whereas my mum has decided to iron the whole thing before now but neither looks right to me... Anyone got any…

We recently got a heifer slaughtered and are now in the very fortunate position of having a freezer full of beef :T We got packs of diced steak and packs of braising steak. I'm wanting to batch cook and have some as stew/casserole and make some pies. Which cut would be best? I'm thinking braising steak but don't want to…

Enamel Roaster with lid
I have just ordered an enamel roaster with handles from Amazon. The reason being I need a light one with handles that I can use as a casserole. Do you think this will be ok for using as a casserole instead of a roaster? I have had such a job trying to find a lightweight one. It seems to be LE Cruest is the in thing at…

Hard cake?
Hi all, Just after a bit of reassurance... I baked a cake last night for a friends bday dinner this evening. Planning on icing it tonight, I wrapped it in cling film and popped it in the fridge, thinking it would keep it nice and fresh... When I looked at it this morning it was rock hard! I'm hoping it's just because it…

Smart Price Laundry things?
Hi everyone I'm trying to cut down on the amount I spend on groceries and was just wondering if anyone had any views on the smart price/value washing powder and conditioner? I usually use either ASDA's own brand or Aldi. Do you think the cheaper ones perform just as well? Or am I best to stick with the bit more expensive…

Stains from old Sellotape
In a charity shop today, I saw and fell in love with a set of 8 beautiful cut-work table napkins. They're clearly hand worked and made of a very fine lawn. They cost me the exhorbitant sum of 2 pounds. However, where they were arranged in pretty shapes in a presentation box, and the pleats and folds held down with…
