Hi everyone
I'm trying to cut down on the amount I spend on groceries and was just wondering if anyone had any views on the smart price/value washing powder and conditioner? I usually use either ASDA's own brand or Aldi. Do you think the cheaper ones perform just as well? Or am I best to stick with the bit more expensive ones?
Thanks
will be interesting to se if there is any difference.

I have used Mr T's cheapest - and found it cleaned just as well as many other brands. May lack the perfume, but actually I just want my clothes to be clean! I have also used it mixed half and half with washing soda. ...clean clothes!Resolution:

I'm using Sainsburys basic liquid at the moment. This seems fine to me. I agree these a lack of smell, but I don't really think that matters.
I havn't tried Tesco value, no reason just never have. I think its certainly worth a try and if you don't like it, go back up to own brand.
I havn't used fabric softener of any sort for about 10 years, never could tell the difference one way or the other.0 -
I've used Asda's smartprice laundry liquid and really can't see any difference to the cleaning.0

After years of spending a fortune on the big box branded stuff I decided to use the Asda Smart Price powder and I love it! I put 2 tablespoons in, not heaped and it does just fine. I do use a branded fabric conditioner though but I just shop around and when it is on offer I buy plenty of it. Having said that I have used the Asda SP fabric conditioner and it is just fine. Not only is it way cheaper but it lasts for ages.0

I've used Asda SP for years and am currently working through a big stock I bought for 25p a box when they changed the packaging slightly:D Like icelandic queen, I use a couple of tablespoons, in fact I keep an old spoon in the container with the powder. Then I add SP vinegar in the rinse drawer. There is no smell at all, no vinegar, no nothing!
I'm impressed with Lidl's dishwasher products so might try their powder when I next need some but when I last compared Asda was the cheapest anywhere.0 -
I use 1/2 a tablespoon of any value washing powder (Asda, Tesco, SB's) for the majority of my washing and add some washing soda to very dirty washes (as in inground mud etc) and everything comes clean.
I agree there is a lack of fragrance but I find most too overpowering anyway plus I prefer "fresh air fragrance" from line dried washing! If you really want a fragrance you could add a few drops of an essential oil to the box - would smell nice, could change it each time you open a new box and wouldn't be overpowering!0 -
I started using Mr T Value washing powder, now in refill packs rather than cardboard boxes. I thought it cleaned well enough but my DD19 bought a pretty little black polycotton dress and half the colour bleached out on its first wash. She was terribly upset and I now get Mr T colour tablets for the girls to wash their own 'special' dark clothes (I've succeeded in discouraging them from buying anything hand wash or dry clean only!!).
The Value fabric conditioner is ok, a bit gloopy in the drawer. I prefer vinegar generally but when towels and jeans are being dried on the clothes horse they're a bit less board-like with a dash of proper conditioner.
I always use Value DW tablets rather than the stupidly overpriced Finish etc, they were recommended by Which? and I use vinegar as rinse aid. The filter often has undissolved powder round it but I'm not very good at keeping the salt topped up, so that could be my fault.0
