Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thurs 27th Ja. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

Good morning Halight and all to follow.
Thai chicken curry went down well last night, as did the lunchtime lasagne made with lo meat ragu.
Today's dinner is bacon and cabbage and then I (should) will make lentil soup tomorrow with the bacon boiling water. We have visitors for the weekend so that will be good to have around.
Need to make more bread today.
Honeybee the job news is fantastic, hope all goes really well x
Nic good to see you posting (hugs) x
Hope all goes well for everyone today, stay well or get better, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all
All better today, yesterdays tum was only caused by stress & I knew that, so just took it gently foodwise, went to bed at 6:30 & slept til 4:30.
DW & WM loaded, packup's made, hubby dropped at the station, though he was nearly told to effing walk as he is still a grumpy old darling.
No idea what's for tea tonight, I'll grab summat out the freezer in a sec.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
JackieO sorry about your wm, if we were nearer i would send OH round to take your machine out and out your new one in, takes minites and yet they charge a fortune for it  xx
Had some shocking news about dad last night, when mum was there he broke down in tears and admitted that one of the night staff has been bullying him :mad::mad:, to say that I am angry is such an understatement, to pick on a vulnerable elderly man, it has been witnessed by other staff members too, I spent a lot of time on the phone to the ward and social services last night and will do the same today. The night nurse (male) was not on duty last night, and the ward ,manager and matron will look into it today and phone me back, if this man is still to work there we do not want dad in there, I am sooooo angry
Off to work today, and I need to make lots of phone calls re the above, dinner tonight is chips OH will have ham with his dd will have quorn nuggets, and I shall have ham salad.
Nic, hope you are ok hun, keep your chin up xxx
Honeybee well done on the job :T
Have good days all xx0 -
Ruby - omg - go for it - and sort them out good and proper. As it may mean that your Dad is the only person who has told anyone about it.
working full time is taking its toll as I feel further and further apart from the children - not nice. OH is struggling running the house - any tips that I can pass on to him. Any hints and tips well received as otherwise I'm going to scream at him. OS - had lovely frittata last night and today will have a bacon mushroom & Pasta dish!
Nic2lou - lots of lovely hugs coming your way - and positive vibes +++++++++++++Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
Niclou - I agree with everything everyone has said, we're all here for you if you need us, big hugs to you, stay strong x
Dark and not sure about the temperature as haven't ventured outside yet. DH up and gone to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was really delicious, bought some beef from a farm shop butcher and it cooked beautifully and tasted wonderful, made stew and dumplings, put some Guiness in it too. Also got 1 big or 2 small portions left so they have gone in the freezer. Dinner tonight is a nice recipe that I haven't made before, Chicken, Leek and bacon pasta, will see how that turns out.
Now on my day's off, have all the normal jobs to do, need to get them done today and tomorrow as it's MIL birthday this weekend and no-one had organised anything, so I've invited them for lunch on Sunday - will do roast, pudding and hoping to buy a ready made and iced fruit cake, that i can then just decorate - I would normally have made and iced the cake but don't have enough time. I thought MIL was 64 this birthday but found out last weekend she's 65 - hence the rushing around to organise something. DH has a sister that knew she was 65 but didn't think to organise anything - unfortunately she has a rather difficult relationship with her mother. Anyway we did celebrate FIL's 65th so felt it wasn't right not to do the same for her. Also think it wouldn't be a very nice feeling to have a special birthday and no-one has done anything - FIL won't even bother to get her a card or prezzie - strange relationship! MIL is lucky I'm bothering to do anything for her to as we've had some real "differences of opinion" in the past and some of the things she has said to me she's lucky she hasn't been slapped! But I'm being very sensible and doing what feels right and fair.
Shouldn't need to buy anything today so should be NSD.
Need to crack on otherwise I will be on here all day and nothing will get done!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Redruby OMG! That is disgusting  your poor Dad, and even worse your Mum she is in a bad enough state already bless her. I would complain to the council as well it is their responsibilty to police these homes. And if the bullying is physical (God forbid )then I would have the police investigating
Bloomin' cold here today and the forecast is for snow flurries
Pay day :j so going shopping today, but haven't a lot to get this weekI need to take some books back to the library as well but ours doesn't open until 2pm on a Thursday
so I will take them back tomorrow morning.
Well I am off to scream at DS
Have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Redruby OMG I would be so cross, how appalling, I know you will get it sorted (((Hugs)))
Hester Glad your feeling better hun
Nic stay strong we are all with you
I have woke up stressed with a head full of worries about money and cars. DS2 broke down last night so we had to pick him up. The car had to be left, not too far away, DH work car still not going. We don't know what to do next to be honest, just can't afford the garage. My DH is very handy and sorts most things himself but he doens't know what to do with them. We have to have the cars for his work (son works for his dad) Oh well I am sure it will get sorted on way or another:(
I need to get my aris in gear and go to the post office today and pick up some bits. Tea tonight will be sausage casserole and I have promised DS3 chocolate brownies for pudding.. Just can't seem to get going...
WM on, DW on the blink. Oh well you have to laugh or you'd cry:rotfl:why is life so hard sometimes
I am such a moaning minni this morning sorry guys, will be more positive later I promise JStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Exactly and the other people there are not able to tell anyone if anything is happening as they are much more advanced in dementia than dad, anything could have been happening :mad:0
