Just popped on to say that i am sure you will get this sorted redruby - now that it has come to light, they won't be able to ignore this sort of unacceptable behaviour. You must be so proud of your dad for speaking up. Although it is a confusing place and he himself has been confused, he so trusts your mum to be able to tell her. I hope you can take comfort in that because some other people will not have spoken up. My dad was in a dementia assessment unit for a few weeks - I know they can be very busy places but all their patients are very vulnerable.
Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Hello all :D

I've only been with you for about a month and it's already working!

Before Christmas OH and I were so unorganised with money and meals, not to mention housework!

This month I've inventoried the kitchen, made meal plans and batch baked. I've used up left overs, made meals using ingredients that have been gathering dust for months and made packed lunches everyday! We've watched what we spend, challenged ourselves to have 20 No Spend Days and spent Sunday mornings looking up supermarket deals and comparing prices. We've also cut right back on the amount of junk we eat and not had a takeaway for the whole of January!

So, we've saved OVER £300 - that's £200 straight onto the credit card and £100 'just-in-case' money in the bank!

As well as that, we've both lost about 7lb!

So, thank you all for your advice and inspiration :D:D:D

ETA: I almost forgot, thanks to the Flylady thread, I've also had a tidy house for about 3 weeks, and that's a record!

  • I know what you mean. I used to be pretty good before, but now I am so much more organised and things are just going so much better! We are living within our means so much better now, while before I felt it was a constant uphill struggle to stay debt free, now we have been able to afford a treat every now and again! and we eat healthier and better then ever before!

Well done on your success x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • Redruby - Your poor dad. That's disgusting, I don't understand why people like that go into caring jobs.

Julie67 - Have you considered taking the cars into a local college with a mechanics dept? My stepdad works at one and they fix some cars for the public although I'm not sure if this is the same for everyone. The price is much cheaper though because they're learners but because they're supervised and checked by a proper mechanic for safety reasons you're still getting good quality.

Tiredmum - I lolled about your Lithuanian dog. He must not know if he's coming or going!

Uolypool - I hope your daughter's wrist is ok. A & E is terrible you always wait for absolutely ages!

As for me I'm ok just a bit glum. Tomorrow is payday and I'm broke and all but given up on budgetting this month which has all gone terribly wrong anyway. Had a really off night with my boyfriend last night, normally we're so in tune but we were just out of sync and I wanted him to be sweet and nice but he was being banterful and laddy! To cap it all I got to the office and found the satsumas I left on my desk were stolen overnight and some suppliers are trying to f me around guaranteeing delivery on the phone and refusing to confirm it by writing!! I know in the grand scale of life it's all insignificant but I just want to cry about it all...I'm off to Combat class tonight and it can't come soon enough!

Hope everyone's having a less irritating day than me x

Jackie-0 I have products from here and here And have been very happy with their service. I have often found that when I look at Currys/Comet, etc., they have older models at dearer prices than on line. I saved over £200 on my washer by doing this.

You can select the spin speed etc., and decided on what you fancy, then google it to see if it is cheaper elsewhere, and I think JL were doing a price match, so worth an ask.

As for plumbing in, if it is just a replacement, then no technical skills needed, if someone can pull it out for you, then you take the water emptying hose from where it is emptying into (put it in a bowl on the floor as some water will come out, and unscrew the water inlet pipes from the taps on the pipe which they are attached (making sure you switch them off first) and then just screw them back on, if not marked up, mark up which is hot and cold (red and blue pipes),

Be back later as DH is cleaning up so better go and lend a hand;)

It really does work dosn't it :T

I really meal plan now, I thought I did before, as in a counted how many dinners I'd bought whilst in the supermarket, with no regard to what I could make with things I'd already got in.

Now I've got an "ideas" list stuck on the fridge, as well as a current meal plan. :D
