I only have a box of handwash powder left in the house. Can I use it in the machine, or will it froth horribly? Should I put it in the drum, or into the drawer?
I have towels to wash, so please don't say do it by hand!

It will froth horribly!
Sometimes with towels I just use a scoop of soda crystals if you have any of those. I know what you mean about not wanting to handwash towels. Just before Christmas my washing machine broke down and I had to handwash for nearly a fortnight. I did one batch of towels by hand - never again!0 -
If its just towels you are washing then they probably wont need any washing powder. The residue from previous washes will be enough to clean them. Just add a splosh of vinegar to the conditioner drawer.Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

I second what Lifeinturmoil said - they shouldn't need any powder - there will be enough in the machine to clean towels.0

OK will try without powder, and vinegar.
Any suggestions on what I can do with the handwash powder? I only really use it for when I'm washing the floor mats ( chuck them in the bath using the remains of the bath/shower water ) It's too harsh for my woollens ( shampoo and conditioner ).
I never seem to be able to get the powder out of the clothes, however much I rinse.0 -
Just use it for general cleaning...floors, tiles, garden furniture, the car etc. It's just another form of detergent after all.Val.0
