Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 28th Ja. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

Morning all
Very cold here this morning, but no frost thankfully, so no need to scrape the car.
The usual chores have been done, DW unloaded, packups made, fish fed & breakfast eaten.
Had a real surpise yesterday, payday, I GOT A PAY RISE, WOO HOO, because I've worked at school for 5 years, I should have got it in September so with the backpay I got an extra £100 in my wages.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning everyone ,and thank you all so much for you advice yesterday.I had problems posting last night I was in the middle of posting when i lost my internet connection. All seems to be fine at the moment though ,fingers crossed.well I eventually managed to get a new washing machine sorted out.£250 and its delivered and they take the old one away plus the packaging from the new one.Youngest DDs OH is going to unplumb the old one for me and plumb in the new one bless him.I was driving him around yesterday as he has done his back in carrying my youngest DGS up to bed.(they live in a three storey town house) and he had to check out some of his sites yesterday.I don't mind as he is a good lad and he cooks my Sunday dinner every week.:).I will treat him to a nice bottle of something achoholic next week. My new machine arrive on Wednesday so I can put my washing on hold until afterwards.
Still awaiting confirmation of my dentist appointment ,he is off work at the moment and I don't want to use the substitute as I am used to my own chap.Still at the moment my crown has settled down a bit and only gives me a nudge if I have something too hot or cold . Fingers crosssed he will sort it out for me shortly.
This afternoon I have my history class, and I'm hoping to hand in my big essay to my tutor for rough marking today .She is brilliant I give her the draft, and she will tell me where it can be improved and I re-jig it before it goes off to Canterbury for final marking.
I'm still doing well with my 'not going to the supermarket month' I must admit I haven't really missed it and seemed to have actually saved some cash. Just as well with the month I have had ,first a new tyre ,then a new washing machine. I am just hoping that I can get through till the end of the month without anything more drastic breaking down.
redruby I do hope you can get your poor dads case sorted ,anyone that can be so cruel shouldn't be anywhere near to vunerable people .Ba****d is not a word I would use lightly, but that is mild to what I was thinking last night. How many other poor souls has he been grossly unprofessional to.
Well time to get a wriggle on and get a cuppa before I tidy up my essay a bit.Hope everyone has a great Friday and a good weekend .Blooming cold yesterday wasn't it.Seems mild outside at the moment but rain is on the way my old bones are never wrong when it comes to damp weather,as long as the white stuff stays away
Cheers chums

Morning Halight and all to follow,
Slept like a log last night, so up and at em today
The ward manager took my dad to one side yesterday and asked him for his side of the story ( she should not have done this at this stage incase she influenced his story) my dear old dad is so upset by all the fuss that he wants to withdraw his complaint, he is on record saying that although someome was nasty to him, he did not want a fuss, all the other staff members are denying anything
Thing Is I have already got social services involved, who have raised a safe guarding alert, which once its been raised cannot be cancelled (which is a good thing) so it will all be investigated, lets see what today brings, off to see dad later on.
Off to work today, then straight off to see dad, stir fry for tea, with chicken and sour cream + chilli dressing. DD is off to her mates for the night, they have some coursework to do.
Will shove a wash on tonight, then relax with a drink
Have good days all, and thanks again for all the good wishes xx0 -
Good Morning All
Red-hope that gets sorted (((hugs)))
No second job today so the day is more or less my ownapart from having to pick DD from school.
Have planned my morning - housework and ironing then possibly some office work this afternoon.
Have leftover shepherds pie for tea.
Hope you all have great days.x0 -

The fact that it is on record could be a good thing, as the investigation will see that the ward manager should not have spoken to your dad especially without anyone else there. Hope everything goes well xxx
Morning everyone

Dark and very cold here, have just taken the bin out and my hands were freezing.
Was up early this morning so have caught up on a few bits. Am taking wally trolley to work today as want to go to Aldi after work, not done an online shop this week as I only need a few bits. OH is somewhere in Ireland on his way to Cork, should be home sometime tomorrow.
Have a good day xxxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Morning everyone.
See some good news here already along with disturbing news. Care homes have always been something of an emotional struggle for me as my darling father was almost in one and he hated the thought of it, as did I. The decision never had to be made as he died shortly afterwards but I still don't know how it would have panned out otherwise. So my sympathies to RR.
Had a productive morning already  three-quarters completed my online self-assessment and now waiting to ring HMRC at 8.00 to clear up a slight problem! Washing machine on as I'm off to Sheffield for the day (work) and want it hung up to dry before I go.
There are a number of things I want to do this year so have decided to save even more money  and really tighten the old belt a couple of notches. My bank account has 'save the change' set up (has for years) so I 'straightened' the saving account to a round figure and will watch the pennies mount up now. Plus I will move any unused moneyinto the saving account when salaries come on. Please don't watch this space as I fear my resolve is not as strong as my actions!!
Need more coffee and breakfast and a read of the papers.
Hope that everyone keeps well and that things improve.0 -
Morning All
I got the jobWill hand my notice in on Tuesday (Monday will be the businest day of the year for the bosses - no need to add to the stress!) so back to full-time work for me from March!
For the meanwhile Friday is still my day off - some MS calls to make this morning and doctors this afternoon for some scan results and hopefully to get weighed.
Still on the healthy eating trek - all though I did have a bottle of wine last night to celebrate
Enjoy your day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning all
Brrr, it's cold here this morning, slight frost over night. We had snow yesterday, but was very tiny flakes and last 5 minutes and didn't settle.
DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Boys now up and had brekkie - both didn't want to get up this morning, think a few early night's in order!
Dinner last night was chicken, leek and bacon pasta - made some bread dough in the BM and then finished it off by hand and made it into rolls - they were lovely tasted better than when you bake bread in the BM for some reason - made 5 large rolls and they all have been eaten so not very OS but nice for a treat!
Was quite productive yesterday, housework done, most washing, drying and ironing done, will change our bed and DS1's today, did DS2's bed yesterday. Managed to make 2 doz sausage rolls had the sausagemeat and pastry in the fridge/freezer that needed using up. Will be heading into town shortly, will go to the bank, scales, have Opticians at 9.30am, then do shopping, also need to get decorations for MIL's cake, bought a ready iced cake in MrT yesterday and a bottle of fizz. Will be intending to do some more baking today and tonight I want to put oven cleaner in the oven overnight so I can clean it off tomorrow morning. If I get chance I'll pop the fitness DVD on and have a look at it, may even do some if I'm feeling energetic.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Well done JC good news:beer:
Fairylittle (((hugs to your DD)))
RR good luck hope social services do a thorough investigation
Gers you sound very organised this morning
JackieO glad you got sorted with a new WW
HH well done on the payrise:T
Halight hope the twins are better soon. We had years of disturbed sleep with our four, torture. The irony is they now sleep for England and I am wandering about all night:(
DH went off to work at stupid o'clock this morning but I don't mind, just glad he is busy. His business is always quiet at this time of year on the domestic side but luckily he has some commercial work to keep him going.
Need to pop to MrA and Fm Foods this morning, also post some more ebay items. My shop is doing well at the moment so hoping this is going to be a good second income for us.
I feel much more positive today and the cold is definitely on its way out.
Tea tonight will be Roast Chicken and salad. I seem to be craving fresh healthy food and not fancying stodgy stuff which is good but I will definitely be sharing a bottle of wine tonight with DH though:D
Nice and bright here. DS3 just off to school, didn't shout at him last night, I had calmed down by the time he came back, just a gentle reminder to keep his room tidy, any way he looked too cute with his camouflaged face.
Have a wonderful Friday JStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
