Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 26th Ja. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Up early with a dicky tum, yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster so came home & had melon & paracetamol for tea, still lets hope today goes a little smoother.
Reduced pork chops for tea last night & tonight I'm making Beef hash from JO 30 minute meals.
Hubby is suffering from SAD, won't use the lamp I bought him so may use it to batter him over the head with til he sees sense.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester and all who follow.

Up at this stupid hour as feel really sick and also have a dodgy stomach. On top of that, the new dog was castrated yesterday and won't leave his bits alone. Every time I tell him to stop, the other dog leaps up and licks the OH in the face to make sure he's ok, which wakes him up and then he shouts at her, so she climbs him, so he shouts etc etc etc.....

I've given up for the time being and have come downstairs with the new dog so OH can get some sleep. I'll trade with him later so I can get some sleep. All of this because he won't put the buster colar on the dog.

So today holds; cleaning the house (but not the floors as with two marauding Border Collies in the rain, there's little point) and catching up on my charity paperwork.

Dinner tonight is either something with fish or something vegetarian, all depending on how I feel later.

Hope you feel better soon Hester and that everyone has a good day.

Morning early peeps and all who follow
I've been up for aaaaages! No doubt will have a snooze later on in the day.
Hester and MonkeyB - not nice at all to have dodgey tums. What about plain boiled rice? If really sicky it's good to have just a spoonful or 2 of the rice cooking liquid which sometimes helps. Ginger biscuits? Hope you both feel better soon.
BargainB - i remember the days of getting up because of the kids being early risers. They are 26 and 24 now and DS is certainly not an early riser!! They do grow out of it (although I couldn't believe it would ever happen!). Your pasta idea for tea sounds fab!
Hear the birds tweetling outside. It was supposed to be frosty this morning but it isn't so that's good!
Plans for today include usual houseworky (minimalist!!) things. Also change bed and iron a fresh set. Although I hate ironing it, I love it all ironed. Might make some twinks - have had a craving for them in the last few days! Have loads of carrots (hhmm someone else on here buys a lot of carrots - JackieG?) so might make carrot cake.
    Off for another coffee!
ooops nearly forgot - Candy?? What was the answer??
    Have a good day all

    Good Morning OS Friends,
Sorry for all those who have dodgy tums and bums. You have my sympathy xx

One of those days I think:eek::eek::eek: Even my Keep Calm saying for the day cant buck me up "Chin up! Chest out! Back straight!"

Im having a major medication review so all my meds are being adjusted. More upheaval to contend with but hopefully better control in the long run.

I have the dreaded washing to do today and hopefully I might see Mooloo is DGD is better as she has been poorly.

Cuddles with Molly at the moment so feeling better already. The power of a furry friend cannot be compared and very OS xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

OMG Candy you cant leave it like that, what did you say ??? spill girlie :D

Cold here this morning, meant to be getting colder by the end of the week.

Went to see dad yesterday, and although it put our minds at rest seeing him and the nurses were lovely, I dont think he is in the right place, he is gently confused, and the others there are screaming and shouting constantly, one poor lady walked the corridor constantly for the hour we were there. Hopefully he will only be there while they assess him, and then he can be moved on somewhere else.

Off to work today, so quick swish and swipe this morning, rubbish and recycling are out. Dinner tonight will be chicken noodles for the others, and I shall have chicken and veg.

Hope you all have good days xxx

Morning all,got up about an hour ago, couldn't sleep after I heard dog moving about at 5-he must have heard a fox or something.Made the packed lunches but not done anything else yet, didnt want to wake the others.
Hope the dodgy tums sort themselves out sharpish Hester and V8.

Need to ring the EA,as they'd left messages on mobiles and house phone. As we were at the funeral the mobys were switched off and we weren't at home and I had told someone.Someone else wants to come and view, which is good, but 3 days last week I had people round and you cant get stuck into anything in case you make a mess.can't go out etc.

I feel like making a curry for tea, there are chicken breasts in the freezer, and got everything else in.

I had a fabric parcel arrive yesterday, got it with the aim of making a dress ,we are going to a friends wedding in May.I'm pleased with the material, just hope I don't make a mess of it.

Off to put the kettle on again-hope you all have a good day.x

  • Morning everyone,
Glad your dad is calmer Redruby, hugs to you and yours.
Need to rush, DGSs need feeding before school. DW needs emptying and reloading.
Wet and dark here, so no washing going out on the line.
Chicken for dinner tonight with rice & veg. Gonna make lasagne out of the left over ragu - that can go into the freezer for next week.
Hugs and get well vibes to all as needed, have a good day, Silver x
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

    Morning all

Dark and not sure about the temperature as haven't ventured outside yet.

Dinner last night was LO and quick teas for the boys as DS1 had Cadets, so I was also taxi there and back for him. DH up and gone to work stupid early. Remembered to take the beef out of the freezer for tonight's dinner and it hasn't defrosted yet, so hoping it will, have to have a rethink if not.

Work was slightly quieter yesterday but in a training session this morning and then early finish for me, days off until Monday yay!

Weight still not shifting, so am coming to the conclusion that exercise is needed, hoping to get started on fitness dvd I've got at home, only want to lose another 8lb or so, so think I may have to fight for every pound - last bit is always the hardest!

Need to get some milk, bread and ham later.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good Morning All

(((Hugs))) and get well wishes for those under the weather
Ruby - glad your Dad is calmer, hope they get the assessment done asap.

Not been on last couple of days, too busy. Also have lost my mojo at the moment. Think must be the time of year :( need some sunshine.

Busy day planned, have 4 hours on my 2nd job then lots of office work to do. Must put my head down and get on with it - have been procrastinating the last couple of days:

Ironing to be done later but am quite looking forward to it  its the thought of doing something that won't take too much brain power.

OH is cooking tea tonight - shepherds pie.

Nothing else to report - have a good day all.x
