Fresh Papaya

Options
Hi all

Oddly enough, I've searched and there isn't a fresh papaya thread - only dried!

I bought a whoopsied papaya yesterday - the sticker says it's ripe, only i have absolutely NO IDEA how to use it, cut it, eat it etc :o I bought it to try something new

Any of you Old Stylers inspire me how to use it? All ideas welcome :)

    Hi zippy,

If you bought it reduced then use it soon as they can go off quite quickly. Slice it (lengthwise) through the middle until it's in two halves. Scoop out the seeds and eat with a spoon like you would an avocado pear or add it to fruit salad. Ds1 loves it when I get papaya as he uses it to make smoothies with either banana or strawberries. Use the reserved seeds for adding to salads, they have a lovely peppery kick.

I love fresh papaya - as above but it's lovely when you squeeze on some lime juice.

Or you can cut it into chunks and make a tropical fruit salad - with mango, pineapple, banana etc.

    Yummy - Enjoy :)
  • There are some opinions on papaya in this thread - not sure I want to try one now :rotfl:
