Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 29th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

Morning all - car's covered in frost again so much have been chilly last night.

    Agenda:
    Breakfast
    Shopping
    Washing
    Cooking
    Reading
    Lying down

Didn't get home until about 8 last night so am pretty whacked, but the train journey home (managed to miss the direct train and had to get on the 'milk' train which stopped almost everywhere between Sheffield and Newcastle) allowed me to have a good long read of Alex Gray's Five ways to kill a man and didn't peek at the end. Not finished it yet but it's on the agenda ^^^^^^^

Drinking my first cup of tea out of my favourite Ewan McGregor mug with the funny handle!

Hope Saturday is good to everyone, ills eased, sadness smoothed and joys increased.
  • Mornin' bargainbird and all to follow,
Yep, my to do list includes washing by the ton.
DGSs1&2 off to football and DGS3 staying here.
Need to go shopping today for provisions for the weekend. Pork with cream & mushrooms with green beans and boiled potatoes for dinner today. Beef, mushroom & ale pie for tomorrow with spicy potatoes. carrots & broccoli. Feeding 12 again this weekend 'coz DS & family are visiting:) Lunch or snacking will be hm lentil soup which I made yesterday.
Shed loads of tidying needed here as well
Hope everyone has a good Saturday, hugs and/or high fives as required, Silver x

Flying visit from me, off to DD's in a moment, she's in hospital having a baby, her hubby is with her & my DS is looking after DGS & DGD until I get there.
OS will be very minimal here today though hubby will be spending time in the garden & greenhouse.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning,

Looking forward to hearing your happy news later Hester.

    Agenda today:-
Take DS4 up town for another frustrating morning looking for 1 specific ds game - I know it will end in tears.....again.
    Take DS to Barbers.
    Clean out chicken coop.
Go out with DS1 & fiancee around charity shops.
    Cook tea.

Sounds like a good day, but to be honest I'm so tired I would love to spend the day in bed, sleeping. Had a busy week workwise. At least I still have my job at the local county council - although a number of people where I work have lost their jobs. 818 to go in this round of cuts, in about 2450 people, so I was fortunate. I think the stress waiting for the news etc has just exhausted me.

Hope to have a quieter day tomorrow.
    Enjoy your Saturday,
    Gillian

    Good Morning All

Oooh Hester, excellent news :j can't wait to hear all the details later.

Cold here again but dry. Am only one up in the house at the moment, well apart from little dog and its lovely. Just about to go and get dressed and start the first hour of 2 hours on 2nd job today.

Ended up doing some deep cleaning yesterday and not the ironing so that will be on the agenda this afternoon.

Office paperwork is in a mess but think will attack that tomorrow.

Have Piri-Piri chicken with spicy rice for tea.

So glad that January is coming to an end - my energy levels have been so low this month :( waiting for a spurt to happen :rotfl:

Hope you all have great days.x

    Morning all

HH - how wonderful, a new arrival, such a special gift, hope everyone's ok and I'm sure you'll keep us informed.

Had a bit of a lie-in this morning, so it's now light, dry underfoot but very dull. don't know about the temp, doesn't look frosty though.

Was less productive yesterday but did eventually get my a**e into gear, don't know what was wrong with me, just took ages to get going. Went to bank, then had Opticians appointment, had a contact lenses check and duly managed to drop one of my lenses onto the floor whilst taking it out, so there's me and the Optician on our hands and knees trying to find my lens, I did find it and also found another one too! Was in the Optician's quite a while, and then needed to get the decs for MIL's cake, then go on to do the food shop, so was very nearly lunch time before I got home, so half the day was gone. Did manage to make some chocolate cupcakes and made some pastry for mince pies. Changed our bed, will do DS1's today, and also got oven cleaner onto oven, left it overnight so will clean it off shortly. Dinner last night was chicken kievs, chips and beans for DH/boys and fish, jacket potato and green beans for me, nice bottle of red wine too.

Not sure about dinner tonight, must address this as am pretty organised in the week then it all goes pear-shaped at the weekends! Must go and crack on otherwise I'll be on here and nothing will get done!

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
