  • Hey bargainbird,
Spicy potatoes for about 6 people:
    1kg potatoes
6 tbl sp extra virgin olive oil
    3 tsp cumin seeds
    3 tsp black mustard seeds
    3 tsp sesame seeds
    ½ tsp sea salt
    ½ tsp cayenne
    1 tsp turmeric
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tbl sp lemon juice
Peel and dice potatoes into 1cm cubes. Parboil in a pressure cooker for 4 minutes or boil for 10mins in ordinary saucepan. Cool.
Heat oil in a large wok and put in cumin, mustard and sesame seeds till they pop. Put in potatoes and stir fry for 5 mins turning regularly. Add salt, cayenne, turmeric and paprika mixed, followed by lemon juice. Turn frequently for 3 to 5 minutes. Turn off heat but leave with lid on for 5-10 mins (quality checking time:)) Enjoy:)
Sounds an odd mixture but we love this with steak & mushroom pie. First time was by accident to use up the spicy potatoes rather than waste them. Now it is one of DSs favourite meals.

EG - I think we put so much effort into Christmas that we have no reserves left for January. Still on the plus side the evenings are drawing out :T

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning All

Thanks for starting the thread BB. Hester - cant wait to hear from you later. NPM - sounds like a lovely day you have planned, enjoy.
Just put last nights last wash on the driers. One load to do today. DS3 and friend are up and on the WII, I am taking them to footy training soon. DS2 has a game, if it is on, it is very frosty here. DS1 is also training but was complaining about a sore leg yesterday. Off to town this afternoon for school shoes.
Will need to go food shopping later but need to write a list first. I will keep it simple as still full of cold.

Got weighed this morning and I have lost 4lbs:j not sure how I managed that, probably a combination of cold and job worries. I have lost 6lbs so far - only 1st 2lbs to go.

Have a lovely day everyone, will pop back later for Hesters news.

Morning all! I was up at 5:30 this morning!! OH had to leave for work and doesn't function well in the mornings so i have to make him a thermos of coffee to take with him. Pup and i went back for a snooze but don't feel like i slept at all!

I think i have stayed the same weight this week, but seeing as i've had to loose the 3lbs my body decided to add onto me at the start of the week i think thats an achievement in it's self.

I am going food shopping with my mum today, I checked my bank and i have now been paid so can get a bit more than i was planning on spending. We've got lots in the freezer but if there are any bargains i don't need to worry about buying them now.

Thanks for all the FB adds/ accepts :) it's nice to put a name to a face.

Dinner tonight is a curry from the most recent slimming world magazine. Chicken curry with spinach dhal and rice - it sounds too good to be healthy but we'll give it a go!

Need to clean the shared hallway today and put some clothes on to wash when i get back as we've no powder.

Hester - Congrats and i hope everything goes well
Gillian - which DS game is it that you are looking for?
Silvermaid - thanks for the recipe, will be putting that to use :)

Hugs to all who need them xx

Also need to pop to Mr T's for the bits I couldn't get from Mr A's yesterday and a Guardian. We read it all week and do the crossword and puzzles, its worth every penny:money:

DH will be working on DS2 bedroom today as if we wait for him to paint it we will wait forever

Normal cleaning and cooking, not sure about tea but I will be making lemon drizzle cake

    Have a good day peeps
