Is this a car dealer con?
Dear All I am at a loss and wonder if someone can offer advice. My wife has had a torrid year fighting cancer. We are hoping
she is through the worst, fingers crossed. As a treat, you only live once, I wanted to change her car.
I saw one online, enquired about it, and gave the details of our car to the
dealer. 4 days later…

RAC advanced inspection or a full service. Which is more thorough?
Pretty much as the title says. I'm looking at buying a used motor. An emission light is on. The seller said I am more than welcome to take it for a service or get someone to check it. So I am taking up that offer.
If a full service from a main dealer more thorough than say the RAC's advanced inspection service? Thanks

learner accident query
I was out today with my 17-year-old giving her a lesson when we were hit by someone reversing too fast out of their drive. Minor damage but the car is dented and scratched. The driver admitted fault straight away and gave details so no issue there. I am under the understanding that all accidents need to be reported so we…

Claiming on Scratch and Dent insurance?
I have a relatively new car and I'm looking at cosmetic car insurance with Motoreasy. The offer is 24 months for £220, which covers 12 repairs (6 per year), with a £25 excess. There is obviously limitations and exceptions, but where I work I'm likely to pick up door dings and small scratches. My main question is about how…

Car Insurance for learner and new drivers
What is the best way to insure our car? There are 2 new young drivers - just passed their tests - one aged 18 and one aged 21. There are 2 learner drivers - both aged 17. Plus 2 older drivers - aged 50+, many years no claims. Confused whether to do a black box? Confused whether to do independent insurance for each driver…

Can I return my car
Hi, first post so please be kind. I purchased a used peugeot 3008 car (£14.5k) from a suzuki main dealer mid January and have had nothing but issues. When I collected the car (two weeks after agreeing the sale) the agreed work (a cambelt change) hadn't been completed as promised. Prior to driving away, an engine light came…

Hi all, I can't see anything on the forum using the search function about this so I hope someone might be able to help with this. Car insurance - when/if to inform of medical occurrence
Hello would appreciate info on the following.. My OH experienced a 'small stroke' recently. He is recovering very well but obviously won't be driving for at least a month. My questions are 1) when does he need to inform his car insurance of the fact he has had a small stroke - I'm thinking best to wait til he has had all…

Car valuation websites estimate my car to be worth a lot more than the price I paid 6 years ago
Bought my 2010-made car in September 2018 from a private owner for about £1,500. Over five years and 27,000 miles later, the car is worth between £1,480 (says autotrader) and £2,000+ depending on which website I consult. Can someone explain this magic? Are these pages bogus? Have car prices increased horribly in the past 5…

Spare wheel and TPMS on new cars
It looks like if I want a new car these days I can’t have a spare wheel or even a space-saver. Are there any small to medium cars that still offer one ? What experience has anyone had with the various types of kit - which are best and which should be avoided ? It also seems that on a smaller car which I now need It won’t…

Fitted them in 2017, I live in London so loads of start stop drving, what's more I have used the car for multidrop delivery and have does so for 13K miles. First time van driver
For a trip with extended family, I am thinking of hiring 9-seater Ford Tourneo. However, having never driven a van, I am a bit overwhelmed as to how different it would feel. I understand there may not be rear view mirror, the driver position is at a height so spatial awareness will be tricky. Also dimensions of the van are…
