VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Loanpad P2P - Reviews, experiences, info or updates, post them here. I'm having a dabble.
Morning all I've seen this name pop up a couple of times in various threads, but can't see that there is a dedicated thread for them. I've had a quick look at their website, and on the face of it, it seems like a pretty good deal, somewhere between cash and a S&S ISA. I realise that capital is at risk, and the interest…

What Should I Be Careful Of? - 12 Month Savings Account for Income Tax Money
Hi, I'm self employed and I want to store my income tax money somewhere until the end of the year when I need to pay it so I'm looking at various savings accounts etc. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Any red flags, things to avoid etc? Obviously I need 100% of the money back at the end of the year, so I don't…

Moving shares from Hargreaves to Trading 212
Hi, Im looking to move shares from my Hargreas ISA account to my T212 ISA account. The reason why I want to do this is becuase HL charges 0.45% for holding shares, whereas T212 doesnt have a charge for holding shares. (unless Im mistaken!) Im curious to hear if others have done this. If there are any gotchas I need to…

This bond states that the interest is paid on the 'Anniversary', does that mean after 1 year and then another interest payment for the second year, or is the total interest paid after 2 years?

Kids lump sum - best place for it?
A friend has 2 children aged 12 and 16 who have been left £20k each in a will. I've been asked where the best long term risk free place is to put them. For the 16yo the Ulster Bank loyalty saver looks good at 5.25%, I'm not sure for the 12yo. Any on either thoughts appreciated!

Sale of VCT shares
Hi, Does anyone have any positive experience with a platform for sale of vct shares, I have held for over 5 years now and so can sell without clawback on tax. I know that they are often illiquid (specifically talking about Albion here) and the companies do buy back but only on the open market. The shares have done fine,…

Independent Investment trust question
I held this trust in my SIPP. I'm in my 30s so I don't check it at all. Apparently it merged with monks https://citywire.com/investment-trust-insider/news/independent-to-merge-with-monks-after-retirement-of-star-manager-max-ward/a2394521 Apparently holders were given an option to merge or take the cash. I never did that,…

How to move shares from one broker to another?
I have about £43k of shares in one broker's fund and share account (i.e. it is not an ISA wrapper). I wish to move the shares into Trading 212 into their ISA wrapper. What is the best way to do this without incurring tax liability? As I understand it (although I could be wrong), there is a certain yearly allowance of…

Getting all my shares in one place
I have a share portfolio (mostly inherited) which I have with X-O (the no-frills arm of Jarvis Investment Management) because there's no standing charge for them to simply hold the shares for me. However, I have some shares in Shell - also inherited - that, for reasons unknown to me, are held in a nominee account with…

Plum problems
Been happily using Plum for auto saving for several years. Save over £5k with no issues. I recently (22nd June) moved some money from one Plum account to another to then move to my current account. The money left plum account B and is showing in plum account A but has not cleared. I've contacted Plum 3 times now and each…

Stafford Railway BS account closure
Trying to close my account and withdrawn the cash, what a pain... I have a two page form to fill in and send back which I did but it's not good enough because it's not a 'real' signature. They want me to print the form, sign it, scan it, and return it I don't have a printer... I'm guessing they'll send me a form in the…
