Newbie investing question
I have a newly opened Barclays investment ISA and am I right in thinking that in order to set up a regular investment I need a direct debit to fund the account and then a second order to state what I want to invest it in? Is there no way to do it in one step? Thanks.

Crypto mistake
So after following a fellow Carpenter on TikTok, he messaged to say thanks for the follow and we chatted all things trade. He then went on to side hussles and mentioned crypto, told him I dabbled few years back and not a lot came of it. He suggested a trading platform called Coastal Trading Luxe. He talked me through how…

Trading 212 £50 shares offer
Hi all, I'm tempted by the MSE promoted offer but have never dabbled in shares, I've only used savings accounts as an investment. I don't think I'd get massively in to it but thought with this offer I shouldn't lose in theory unless the shares dropped heavily in value? I have heard people saying to invest in different…

Is it better to be a Scottish saver?
Or should I say a resident of Scotland when it comes to paying tax. And of courses a frugal saver. In particular if you are managing your income and trying to go as close as you dare to being a higher rate tax payer but keeping the max £1,000 tax free savings interest allowance rather than breaching the cliff edge and…

Tembo HomeSaver Account 5.75% - advice/thoughts?
Hi, I saw this Tembo Home Saver Account advertised online. Link at end of this post. Would welcome anyone's opinions on the account, including safety of any deposits with Tembo? The account is for depositing a maximum of £20K - so well within the FCA protected £120K limit. And their site says savings are protected with…

Chase Saver With Boosted Rate
I'm in the process of moving my savings from Monument Bank as their rates are now dragging behind and I'm looking at the Chase Saver With Boosted Rate as I prefer to have instant or short access(30 days max ). However I find the following a little confusing; The MoneyFacts website states that the Chase Saver With Boosted…

Saving bonds that allow change of monthly interest payment methods
Hi all, So i just had a 53k bond matures, have maxed out ISA for this year and am now looking to buy 1,2,3 and 5 year bonds. I think rates still have room to creep up a bit higher. One thing has occurred to me I think is beneficial, some providers like RCI Bank allow you to chnage your payment interest method at any point…

Stock market
Hi all, Wanted to see what people think of the current situation on the stock market. Was wondering if I should pull the trigger on any of these “discounted big boys” or just keep putting into Vanguard S&P 500? NVIDIA, META, APPLE, AMAZON, MICRON, MICROSOFT, GOOGLE, AMD, TSM etc

Nationwide 1Y Triple Access Saver - can I change account before 12th month?
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to double check one information. I opened Nationwide 1Y Triple Access Saver about 5 months ago, it currently gives me 3.5% (I haven't used any withdrawal). I can see that they've got a new account that gives 4% currently. Can I just open the new one and transfer my money without losing the…

Do you compare your investments to a benchmark?
I do, and when updating my spreadsheet I also update my benchmarks. For equities, my benchmark is 90% HSBC FTSE All World Index and 10% Fidelity UK Index. That is about 59% North America, whereas I am underweight there at about 43%. For fixed interest, my benchmark is 50% Vanguard Global Bond Index and 50% Fidelity Index…

CMOP and dividends
I have been keeping an eye on this fund for a while and note that it is an accumulation fund. https://www.google.com/finance/beta/quote/CMOP%3ALON?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi0h8XwsYGVAxUWUkEAHerQFe0Q3ecFKAN6BAgdEAQ When I had other funds where you could choose to have the fund as an accumulation fund or a distributing one, where you…

From PropertyMoose to UKDiversified
Hi, Basically i had some shares in a company called PropertyMoose which was a property company that rented out properties. However in the last few months a company called UK Diversified Property has taken over everything which to me seems extremely bizarre. I was trying to look into whether a company can take over the…

MBNA 1 year fixed rate savings account
So, just opened myself one of these at 5.27% for one year and was a bit surprised to see the account can only be managed by phone. No way of seeing your balance online and for some reason I'm reluctant to use it now. Seems irrational as the balance won't change until the interest is added after the 12 months but there is…

Volume Cash Withdrawals
hi, I have an account with Halifax and want to withdraw ~£80k in cash. I don’t mind withdrawing in multiple stages due to the large amount of money, but Halifax are refusing to allow me without a proof of purchase invoice for whatever I want to spend it on. I have a friend who works for TSB and they advised the bank has no…

Evraz shares
They have been delisted and I was wondering what would be the best course of action. I hold some through a nominee broker and asked them whether I could get them converted to paper shares. They said no. I then came across this: https://www.evraz.com/en/share-certificates/ My question is: would it be better to keep holding…

Investing in uncertain times and diversifying
I was speaking with someone recently and they scared me with talk about the Iran war and everything happening globally. It made me panic sell my holdings, not at a loss, but I reduced my profit. I had over £300k in index funds. What do others invest in during times like this? I do want to start my own business eventually,…

Premium Bonds to GIA, as ISA allowance used up.
I'm lucky enough to have used this years ISA allowance and I have 47K in my Premium Bonds. With the PB not doing very well, I was thinking about using the 3K allowance I would have if i used some of the PB money and put it into a GIA. My thinking is to put 20K into a GIA and invest in worldwide ETF. Then wait until next…
