Transferring Shares to my Spouse
It seems sensible to transfer some of my shares to my spouse so we can sell them and each receive our own CGT allowance. My question is about how to transfer them. They are current held by Morgan Stanley in the US, they trade on the NYSE. Do I need to actually need to 'transfer' the shares anywhere or can I just document…

to max or not?
Currently hold £40k in PB. Returns in the last 12 months have been around 2.5% equiv (tax-free, I realise). Maxed out ISA for the year, what are your feelings on adding more to PB to the max investment - those with the maximum have a greater chance of a win? How best to roll the dice!?

HMRC and Tax Codes
Hi, my estimated interest for April 2026 - April 2027 outside of my ISA's will be less than £1000 a year. However HMRC have my tax code for 2026 - 2027 as 1207L and deductions as £500? This was because I told them that my interest for 2025 - 2026 would be about £1500. Where do I update this via my HMRC account please?…

Capital gain tax for foreign currency on (non-tax-sheltered) brokerage account
Some of the brokerage account can hold foreign currencies directly but I wasn't sure how should the tax be treated if it's non-tax-sheltered. I want to hold some dollars to buy and sell securities, and I don't convert the dollar back to pounds in between different transactions, as I plan to continue to invest on dollar…

Anyone had a 12 month bond with Close Brother before? I have one that is maturing on 4 December this year, that is in 12 days' time but I haven't heard from them to notify me that the bond is maturing and giving me options on what to do with the proceeds. Should I have heard something by now?

Cash-in Pru/M&G New World Life Investment Bond
My wife paid 100 pounds per month into this bond from 1999 until 2022. So total invested is 27600. Its value is now 54800. Its an onshore bond. Her total yearly income is quite small; less than the personal allowance so she pays no income tax. She is resident in Scotland. If she cashes in and withdraws the full amount in…

S975 Certificate - Wrong figure quoted for Gross Interest
I recently requested from NW an S975 (2023-24) for a loyalty
savings account that I have held with them for a number of years. This arrived in good time but the Gross
Interest figure quoted was exactly double that which NW paid into the account
in December 2023. No other interest was
credited to this account during the tax…

ii SIPP Portfolio X-ray - Management Fee?
I've recently transferred an old pension into a SIPP in ii, and have generally been having a good experience with setting it up, investing in a few mainstream funds, and the low fees. Just one thing that puzzles me. The Portfolio X-ray feature is excellent for breaking down equity distribution etc. But in its "fees"…

I tried to access my account this morning and it just times out (eventually). There are some rumours online that it shut down yesterday, but it's not exactly plastered all over the place, and I've never heard of the sites carrying the rumours (so no idea how reliable they are).…

Woodford compensation and No Win No Fee fees
I joined the class action with Harcus Parker for redress from the Woodford catastrophe which to cut a long story short was not heard in court and instead redress was made via FCA. Do banks still send annual statements of interest paid?
After a recent inheritance, I'm facing with having to do self-assessment in order to declare my savings accounts' (multiple accounts) interest amounts, as they total over £10,000/pa, and pay tax on them. I'm not working, so I'm not on PAYE. Do banks still send an annual certificate of interest earned every tax year, either…
