yougov.finance bribe
It's one of these almost-too-good-to-be-true stories, but it is true. First mentioned by @Bridlington1 in the Natwest Regular Saver thread, but I reckon this deserves its own thread as it could be of interest to those who have at least 10 current, credit card and savings accounts and not everyone reads the Natwest RS…

Building Society Passbook not proof of account
Prior to the 2008 financial crisis, I opened Passbook savings accounts with various building societies attaining membership rights. Following the 2008, their interest rates reduced considerably so most of my savings went to stocks and share ISA's leaving the Building Society accounts dormant accruing negligible annual…

Should we invest in our daughter's stakeholder CTF
Our 17 year old child has the standard Government Child Trust Fund. We have never paid into it, it's grown slightly vs was originally invested. It's a stakeholder CTF and I've read that these are low-risk to ensure no major stock market crashes in the run up to it maturing when your child turns 18. I'm uncertain about…

Savings Pots - Alternatives
I currently have 5 savings pots with TSB, with standing orders setup each month to save for Christmas, Summer Hols, Birthdays etc. The interest rate on this has fallen to 1.44%, so I'm trying to find an alternative method with better rates. I've been searching around but cant find anywhere as simple as the setup I have…

HMRC expired cheque question
Hi, I hope this is the right place to get some help for this question, I found an old HMRC cheque for a tax rebate of about £1000 a few months ago, the cheque was about 11 years old. I'd lost it and never cashed it, I called HMRC and they asked me to send it in and they would have a look, since then I've heard from them…

Filling in Scottish Widow Transfer Form A
So got my Scottish Widow account setup and talked to one of their agents via the web chat who was really helpful. I've filled out the Crest Form. Now doing their Transfer Form A. Experiences of Freetrade?
I started an ISA with InvestEngine a year ago for tucking away spare money, separate from my pension savings. While I like the offering from them, ease of using the app and obviously the low cost of investing, I can't shake off an uneasy feeling about their reliability. For example, they pulled their new Life plan managed…

Forced to move ISA and GIA from InvestEngine, how to proceed?
Hello, I have been with InvestEngine for almost 2 years now and have both ISA and GIA, there has been no issues until recently. I've been asked to provide additional documents to confirm source funds, e.g. bank statements and gov ID that I have provided. I thought that will be it, but they also ask me to hold my ID and do…

Mid 30s Advice
Afternoon all, I'd be grateful for some general advice on the position I'm in. Turn 36 in August. Recently became mortgage free. Only "debt" I have is c.£20k for Plan 1 student debt; in theory that gets wiped in 10 years. There's no salary sacrifice at my work to lower my monthly payment. £130k in a SIPP £10k in a S&S ISA…

Buying gilts - which platform to use?
I am considering buying some (conventional and index-linked) gilts and am not sure about which platform to use. It seems that Fidelity don't offer gilts at all (only gilts funds and ETFs), whereas Scottish Widows (formerly iWeb) offer them. Any other platform which offers gilts? Thanks for the help!

TG30 - 0 3/8% Treasury Gilt 2030
Apologies for the basic nature of this post, but from a complete novice perspective I'm just trying to get the fundamentals right. I have some cash savings I'm trying to redeploy into various 'capital preservation' vehicles for a couple of years. Looking at short term Gilts I've identified the TG30 as potentially…
