Birmingham Bank?
Hi, does anyone have any experience of Birmingham Bank? I am looking to lock away some savings in a fixed rate 3-5 year account and these guys seem to be offering the highest rate at the moment. I'd never heard of them before they were recommended here.

What saving account is ideal for my savings? (£7,968)
Hi, I posted this elsewhere but its worth posting here. I've only just explored savings accounts, regrettably I wish I did this much sooner but was so confused by all the jargon. I now have more of an understanding to maximise interest rates but I'm still confused what to do exactly. Apparently Plum has the best interest…

Charter rate drops?
I wasn't sure where to post this as it seems to span a range of popular products. Casually looking on Charter's web pages this morning, I could only see Notice Accounts on offer. No Easy Access, no Fixed Rate and no ISA's. Could this indicate a flurry of rate drops? Incidentally, when I logged on, I could see just one EA,…

Listed vs unlisted stocks for probate
I think this forum will be better for this question given the context. I am currently filling out the IHT400 probate form for my deceased mum, it asks if she has any listed stocks and shares or unlisted stocks and shares and control holdings. I don't know what these mean and google is not helping. She had a S&S ISA, a…

Risk level for Vanguard funds Vs ETFs
I've been investing in mutual funds for a few years and have just started looking at ETFs. There seems to be ETFs on vanguard that roughly match a fund equivalent, but I've noticed that the ETF is always a higher risk level by one number. For example VAGS global aggregate bond ETF compared to global bond index fund. The…

Do Accumulation and Income ETFs pay the same tax in a GIA with dividends reinvested/withdrawn?
After all the recent tax changes (CGT, dividends, etc.), I am trying to understand if Acc and Inc pay the same tax in a GIA after a number of years with dividends reinvested. Currently (for my Vanguard acc fund in GB) I get a yearly CTC, double check no ERI, then copy the dividend figures for my self assessment. When I…

First time investing solo. I already have some investments in an ISA but these are ones that my (wonderful) mum set up for me ages ago and I am only now starting to really look into my finances. She died recently so there is a lot to try to manage at the moment as well as starting uni. The ones I have there are all active…

My mum died recently, leaving me investments to manage. I am 20 and starting uni soon, so trying to sort all my finances, new and old, to the best of my abilities before I go and start a new chapter in my life. Faster Payment odd difference?
My Skipton Member Bonus Saver Matured today and paid interest of £155.65 on £3000 deposited. As the interest rate drops at maturity I transferred the £3155.65 to my Santander Lite Account to be transferred elsewhere later in the day, and that successfully closed the Skipton account. Just over an hour later, I received a…

Plum being scammy..?
I stupidly opened a Plum ISA for the high interest rate thinking I can move my ISA after 3 months however I have now read further and apparently they do not pay your interest at the start of each month but instead they pay it at the end of the following month and if you move your money your interest voids. Furthermore you…

Royal Mail Stock Holding – What to Do?
Having just sorted the National Grid rights issue situation I
now find I’m getting correspondence on the IDS (Royal Mail) acquisition proposal. Has any ‘small holding’ (less than 250) shareholders got a view on the way
forward or will this get accepted/rejected irrespective of what the lesser
shareholders decide?
