Plum free £25 for saving £500 for 6 months.
Hi all, I've just spotted this offer on the homepage. Has anybody used a similar offer in the past? Clicking through simply takes you to the app store to get the app. I've installed it and created an account but there's nothing I can see relating to the £25. So I am assuming it is working via some sort of tracker / referal…

Who remembers Peter Young?
While clearing out a pile of old financial
papers I came across an old newspaper article dated 1996. I was instantly transported back nearly 30
years. The private yacht I was on has just started transiting the Suez Canal.
With little else to do I started reading a 4 day old Telegraph we had taken on
at Port Said. There on…

Santander Easy Access Saver - What to do with it?
What are peoples plans once the rate drops on this account on 20th May. Move the money out, obviously ;) But what of the account itself, especially if you opted for annual interest (Like i did) Will you leave a £ in and then just wait for the interest to be credited, at the anniversary (Sept for me), in the (vain) hope…

Santander Easy Access Limited Edition
The Key Document ofr this account states the annual interest at 5.20% AER/gross and the monthly interest rate at 5.08% AER/gross. Should the monthly not read 5.08% gross (5.20% AER)? Or have I misunderstood how AER works?

Santander Edge Saver
Hi all, I opened a Santander Edge Current Account (no direct debits to avoid paying the monthly fee) and the attached Edge Saver on 7th April. Tax on interest (again!)
I know this subject has been done to death - but I still find it confusing. Assuming earnings are: 12570 tax free band 1000 PSA allowance 5000 Starting rate for savings So if I earned 18570, there is no tax to pay If I earnt one pound more, does the "Starting rate for savings" disappear...? 12570 tax free band 1 taxable…

Please help me understand why bonds might be better- or worse- than cash.
Hi all. I have been hanging around these parts for a few years now, and have
settled on the following asset allocation: 50% stocks, 50% bonds. EXCEPT that so far, I haven’t been brave enough to buy bonds.
The defensive, fixed income part of my portfolio remains in cash. My thinking has been this: A. As an individual,…

Rent2rent scam. Losing sleep
I can't sleep for worrying. I recently found out my OH has been investing money with rent2rent companies. He tried to explain how legitimate they are, and was looking for a way to make money money as he thinks ISAs are not enough. I tried to calmly explain that he may have been scammed, which he didn't accept and said I…

Fidelity - taxing interest outside ISA?
DH holds some cash in his Fidelity Cash Management Account to pay the fees on his S&S ISA. This earns some interest. However, they also appear to be deducting tax from the interest at source, rather than paying it gross. It's only pennies, but I thought all interest is paid gross these days. DH is well within any tax from…
