Attractions and venues that offer a discount when you arrive by public transport
Seen a few of these types of offers recently so thought it might be good to compile a bit of a list. The best known is probably the National Rail 2 for 1 scheme which is well documented on MSE's Deals pages here. But less well known are the deals available at London attractions (including the Tower of London and Hampton…

Best tube station for Wembley exit
Hi all. I'm taking my daughters to a concert at Wembley next month and I'm aware that getting to the main station (Wembley Park?) can take hours as it's crammed with so many people. Can anyone advise on which other nearby stations are easy enough to get to and how far they are please?

Oyster Card now costs £7 non refundable--Best prepaid contactless debit card alternative
Transport for London (TfL) recently changed what they charge to get an Oyster Card to £7, and that's also now not refundable (turned into credit after one year or refunded when you give back the card). Cards bought/issued before the date of change will still be refundable or get the £5 returned in credit (except the…

TFL bus routes not accepting Oyster
I've noticed some classic looking buses in Central London which don't accept Oyster, and the driver says its a £2 charge for the bus. These are on normal TFL bus routes, which I've travelled before at the £1.75 fare, on Oyster as usual, eg route 15 as the most recent example. I haven't gone far enough to check but I…

Lime bike charges
I am charged for individual bike rides but then I am also charged a "group ride" where a few individual ones are grouped together. I have raised this with Lime but I am not getting a response, other than we are looking into it, and there is no number to call. Over the course of two days I was charged a total of £115! Any…

Fine for not having a ticket
Hi my daughter bought her train ticket on line in advance, but unfortunately got on the wrong train which was a different company. She was asked to show her ticket which she did then discovered her error . She gave her name and address and a few days later a letter arrived stating she had a fine of £ 50 for evading paying…

Ferry Travel delays
Are there any standard procedures for recompensing UK Ferry Travel delays? The Isle of Wight is suffering badly from substandard services from it's ferry providers - one of whom at least provide vouchers for complimentary hot drinks for delays of two hours and more, the other - Wightlink - provide absolutely nothing!

Train inspector took my details, he said company will write back, what happens next?
I went onto a train without a ticket which was a journey from where I live. As I got off there were some official people, a police officer. Re. Flexible ticket from Newcastle to Alnmouth
I am looking at a possible Advance ticket from London Kings X to Newcastle and then a separate Transpennine ticket from Newcastle to Alnmouth. Last time I did a similar trip, I didn't need to buy the Transpennine ticket in advance. Is that still the case?

Trip.com Railcard Activation
I know that you have to buy a train ticket on Trip.com to activate the railcard but do you know if you have to be using that specific Railcard for the purchase? I don't need to use my Two Together as had already bought the train ticket, however, I do need to buy a different train ticket and will use a different Railcard.…

Trip.com railcard offer
The trip.com railcard offer seems good - happy to buy the first ticket through them to get the railcard activated, and subsequent tickets if the app is OK. However, does the railcard stay in their app or is it possible to get it into the standard Railcard app?

Entitled to free hospital transport?
Hi. Not sure if this is the right place for such a thread. My wife and I live in Durham and she's just been sent to London on a random Wednesday morning to chat with a consultant. They couldn't have picked a more inconvenient time but it's been a long, long wait. Can't go down on the Tuesday night because…

Trip.com - two together railcard
Last year, I bought an online two together railcard using Tesco Clubcard. Both of us had the railcard app on our phones, was provided with a code and the railcard was visible on both phones on the Railcard app. This year I was tempted by the trip.com £12 offer, I was lucky enough to get one of the 50 offered yesterday.…

Best ways to minimise punctures on bike
I've got a fairly old Boardman Hybrid (Comp Performance Series). I've not ridden for a few years & noticed the original Continental tyres supplied on the bike (Ultra Race) 700x28 punctured a lot. I was only travelling on main roads so not off road at all. I was recommended Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres which are now fitted…

London Underground, Disabled Railcard and Foreign Visitor
I'm seeking some advice as I have a visitor from Australia with me towards the end of June and am doing my best to plan things. I have a digital Disabled Person's Railcard and wondered what the best course of action was with tickets on the London Underground. I have searched and the threads I found were from 2010 and 2012,…

Bus tips & tricks
I'd love to hear some of your tips and tricks for bus travel. Here are a few of mine (bearing in mind that I'm a Londoner): * A kid told me that he always looks out for the brand new buses by checking their reg plate, because the new ones in his area of South London are equipped with charging ports. He'll wait until a new…
