Sewerage, meter : what happens next time, if you already used up your one-off leakage allowance?
Good evening. I am looking into what happens if you have a water leak when on a meter. It seems you can request a one-off usage allowance, so you are hopefully let off the cost of the excess use, for one tiime only. Our bills have a water charge and a sewerage charge. So, what would happen if you had a water leak a second…

Paying for water which you can't access
We bought an old school 3.5 years ago which we are converting into a house and which was sold to us as being without services as the services had come into the property via an old boiler house which was demolished when the new school was built. The property had been empty for 12 years when we bought it and we've never had…

Are refunds for overcharges time barred?
I have recently found out that I could have been on a lower tariff from thames water ( single occupant) as no meter. the tariff will be much cheaper monthly. TW says I am entitled to a refund. Is there a time bar? Or can this be for all the years I have been with them on the incorrect tariff? Thanks

Does my bill look right?
Hi, I've just got my latest bill, tried querying it with Severn Trent but it seems the advisors there aren't that great (perhaps I'm just unlucky with the ones I tend to get 😂) Anyway this is a 6 monthly bill The waste water part is the bit I'm concerned about because after looking in their charges booklet I think I should…

CLEAR BUSINESS REVIEWS - DON'T REFLECT MY EXPERIENCE AND RESEARCH
Hi Everyone, I'll try to keep this story as short as possible. I run a tiny business in Scotland, and 4 years ago I decided to lease a small office (about the size of a double bedroom) so I could get away from the house and all the noise that comes with it! Within a year I was sent a letter by "Clear Business" stating that…

Thames Water underestimate bills resulting in lump sum at end of tenancy
Hi all, Looking for advice. A friend has been charged a lump sum of £511 from Thames Water. They recieved this months after moving out of their flat, because a new meter reading was supplied by the new tenants, and it showed that Thames Water had been underestimating their water bill (was £180 should have been £307) for…

Thames Water price increase
We were paying £ 19 a month for 2 people in a 3 bed house.
TW puts my bill up to £25 a month without telling me. That’s almost a third
price increase ! No extra people in the house no extra wate being used. I had
to find this out by casually looking at our bank statement online. So I rang them up & they were surprised I…

New build sewerage charges
We live on a Taylor Wimpey site in Devon. We've been paying for sewerage since we moved in in 2017 but it now turns out some residents are not being charged. One resident has been told that there will be no charge until the site is finished. Is this true? Clearly some people are saving 100's of pounds.

Hi I am a single and currently under extreme stress/anxiety from being divorced and various things going at work. I am living in a three bed on my own paying hefty mortgage - I now have a new problem to deal with. My water bill and potential leakage. My water company installed a new meter on the payment early this year -…

Manual wash or Dishwasher? Here's a money saving tip to use less water manually.
Added a poll just for curiosity's sake. Personally I don't understand why the average homeowner needs a dishwasher. You're using electricity to heat up water as well as water from your mains so you essentially have a secondary boiler in your house specifically for washing dishes that don't always do a great job at actually…

Liability for Surprise Bills?
Hi all, Three years ago we moved into a new flat. At the time we were told that we had to pay for cold water through a certain company, and that boiler costs were a part of the service charge. However, we recently found out that there is a second company who charges us for hot water, even though they have never got in…

We have had normal usage of water in our house for 4 years.Suddenly I saw a bill from TW 3 times more than expected and that too based on actual reading. I kept on asking TW to check for any leakage but they didn't send anyone for months. Looks like meter reader wasn't able to locate the water meter as I have moved the…
