Faulty water meter

Hello. I have a question about my water bill. We moved into the new house 4 and a half years ago. It was me, my partner and my 2 teenage sons living in the house. My water bills were very hight since the day we moved in. I was shocked when I saw my first bill, because in my previous property I was paying £32 a month and never had any underpayment. I rang wessex water and was told to check house for possible leaks. We did. We had new bathrooms done, replaced old boiler, had all the taps fixed and we couldn't see any leakage anywhere. My bills were still huge. At one point I was paying £110 a month for water and still owed them money. Almost two years ago, my eldest moved out, so it was only 3 of us living in the house, but my water bills didn't reduce. Last bill I got in December 2021 said we were using almost 800 liters a day. I called them again and tried to reason that this is not accurate, but got told that it must be a leak somewhere. We checked, there was no leak. Last month my water bill was late, so I called them and asked where it is. I got told that our usage gone down massively after they changed our meter in March this year. I didn't ask for a meter change BTW. Today, I received my bill and it's absolutely clear, that they changed our meter in March because it completely stopped recording our usage. I got refund today of almost £300 pounds, but I'm really angry because it's obvious that I have been overpaying for my water for over 4 years and they didn't do anything about it. Can you tell me where I stand on getting some sort of rebate from them fir all that time when they were overcharging me because meter was faulty? Thank you in advance for any advice given.
