Lead pipe replacement scheme
I’ve been told about a ‘lead pipe replacement scheme’ to replace a lead pipe on my property (mains to house). there is plenty of talk of a lead pipe replacement scheme amongst google search results but it appears to be something the homeowner would pay for. Am I along the right lines here? Many Thanks

Default not showing Credit Report
I hope someone can advise. My previous landlord without my knowledge changed the water bill to my name. I got to know about this last week (Because of a tenant currently living there). The bill is from OCT 2020 and the letter is dated MAY 2021 from a debt collection agency stating that I have to pay the bills from JAN 2020…

Social housing tenants in Thames Water area may be entitled to refunds
I haven't seen much publicity about this court case anywhere, so many of the c.375,000 social housing tenants and ex-tenants in the Thames Water area who are affected probably aren't aware that they're entitled to refunds from their council or housing association landlords, after they made agreements with Thames Water in…

Shared supply after meter in block of flat
Hi, I have been living in the same flat for many years. I was always a bit surprised by the water bills, as I am fairly careful with water. Fairly recently, Thames Water had to replace my meter and they installed a smart meter, reporting usage every day. I went away for several days, and meter was still reporting up to 250…

Paying for neighbours water
Hi, I'm looking for some advice. I have recently had my kitchen done and the when the builder turned off the water using the stopcock in my house, my neighbours water went off too. As I am on a meter UU have agreed that this means I have been paying for their water too. The neighbour has also been paying UU through RV. I…

If you are going to call Thames Water about an issue...
...do record the call yourself. I was told some complete rubbish by someone clearly based in India. First, he said the "usage looks normal to me" without even asking the size of the household or usage patterns. He then said "the meter is working fine as it's reporting data regularly" (smart meter). When I asked to talk to…

Wrong meter, now the fun begins.
For the last thirteen years I have been living in a flat on my own as a single person.Over the last three years the water bills grew larger very quickly and at the start of January 2020 I received a bill about four times my average at about £240 for 6 months.I queried this with Thames Water who said they could not send an…

Incorrect meter assigned by Thames Water
Hello there, we moved into our flat three years ago and signed up to Thames Water. We gave them our address and they assigned us the water meter for the flat. Recently, we had a water bill double our usual. We asked Thames Water to check if the meter was faulty, they came out (apparently) and decided it wasn't. I did a bit…

Water debt
I recently started looking at my credit reports and found that I've got like 6 years of debt for a local water company who are still charging me monthly and those payments are affecting my score. I rang the company and told them I haven't lived there in like 5 years and they requested proof from my old landlord but I can't…

How do we check water leak?
Our street is on a gradient hill and there is a puddle of water (even though we've had no rain) coming from the flower bed at the side of the driveway from the higher side. How can we find out if the water is coming from our pipework or nextdoor's pipework? We're in a semi-detached bungalow and the unattached bungalow…

Southern Water Sentencing and Fines for Sewage Pollution
This is perhaps one of the most shocking stories I have read in a long time and any fines imposed are totally justified although will never compensate for the damages inflicted. However, as a customer of Southern Water, and not being able to change my supplier, how will this affect us and any future bills ? Are we as…

Rateable Values
I am so grateful that others have been on here talking about rateable values. And for the education, but I'm still in a quandary.... I need the rateable value of my house, back when my lease was originally granted (in 1980's). The local authority sent me to the Valuation Office Agency, who sent me to the water company, who…

Refund if in credit
Hi everyone. I've just logged on to my water account online and I'm just over £400.00 in credit! I'm on a water meter and pay a set amount each month - £44.00 per month which I think is way too much but I've not really been bothered about it before. However my last bill for the quarter was only £125.00. On my last bill…

Thames water and council tenancy
Hello Hope this is the right place. When I became a council tenant, my water charges were included in my rent and I didn't need an account for a water company. A few years back they transferred this for Thames Water and I had to create an account and direct debt of £40 a month however the rent or council tax was not…

Garden sub metre to off set garden water counting toward sewage cost
I am an Anglian Water customer and they allow readings from a garden tap sub meter which you can buy cheaply on line to account for water used on your plants or lawn which does not then get counted toward the sewage part of your water bill. Anglian water are quite upfront about it and are happy to answer questions. I…

Company misread low, now I'm being charged for a 'sudden increase' in usage
We're a couple in a 3 bed house, provided by United Utilities. We have historically (pre-pandemic) used ~260 litres per day. From May last year, due to their engineer making a misread on the metre, this estimate was changed to 90l per day. Admittedly this should have put alarms bells for them and for us, but it wasn't on…
