I keep one kettle for drinks and food only. I keep a cheap other kettle to boil water for hot water bottles and non food needs and I reboil the old hwb water to refill the next hwb. Saves gallons of water!

LOL! I have always done that. The HWB water either gets re-cycled as a re-fill or gets used to water plants. My late elderly aunt became paranoid about water when she got a meter installed. Washed up in an inch of water, then put that water in a bucket with any cooking water used to carry to the bathroom to put in another bucket, with any water saved from washing her hands in a small bowl that sat in the washbasin - all ready to flush the loo. But when I discovered she was making tea each day by boiling up the lukewarm water from her copper hot water bottle I was horrified. I had just thought she used a really nasty brand of tea! I dare not ask for tap water to drink so just used to go thirsty when I visited.0
