Thames Water/Water Meter/Advanced Charging

Water bill seemed to be too high. Contacted Thames water, our serial number on the WM doesn't match their records. Still trying to get that issue sorted, not convinced we aren't paying for someone else's water (there has only ever been one WM installed, been in the property since 2003)

Upon analysing the bills it seems Thames Water try charging for your predicted usage for the following year!? Anyone else ever come across that? Surely the point of having a water meter is to pay for what you use.

Also has anyone ever had any success in getting a WM removed? We live on a 3.5 Acre Small holding with 3 horses, so consumption would be higher than your average household, can't find anything online about getting it removed.

Any insight to our issues would be appreciated

Is it within twelve months of the water meter being installed? If not, I think it's in for good now.
  • Most water suppliers calculate a 6 monthly estimated charge; deduct/add any credit/debit balance and then divide it into 6 monthly payments. There is also an option to set up a variable DD and pay in full on receipt of a bill. However, this is for a domestic account: I am not sure that 3.5 acres and 3 horses fits into that category.

Meters are never removed, but they can be disregarded in the first 12m and you then revert to RV billing. Not in your case then.
