Refusal of Service Animals - Legal?
Hi all, We looked at booking a weekend away as a family in a privately let property in the north of Scotland. I noticed that it specified no pets allowed, so emailed the owner to establish the situation on service animals - grandfather is blind and has a guide dog. The owner got back to me to say that they do not accept…

Rules for refunds
Recently paid a deposit on a two week stay at a flat in Brixham South Devon. The deposit was for a booking in June 2024 (yes 2024 not 2023). Despite the booking being 381 days before we arrived the company (Original Cottages) refused to return the deposit because the terms and conditions state no deposit refund even if you…

Air BnB in Liverpool
Hi. I just recently booked the above and was rethinking over the online process. I dont think I got charged any extra for using a credit card as a guest. Does that sound right? 🤔 Thanks for any helpful input in jogging my memory.

Appleby horse fair
I am intending to visit for the first time on Sunday. I realise we will not be able to park easily in the village so in this situation we usually park at a pub, hotel or restaurant, have a meal then cycle to a village. So looking for recommendations for pub, restaurant, hotel within about 5 miles.

Low cost holiday deposit
Ten days ago I booked a holiday cottage through Hoseasons by telephone. I was offered the option of paying a low cost deposit. No reference was made to the fact that if I cancelled I would be liable for the balance of the deposit. I have just advised Hoseasons that I wish to cancel my booking and they advised me that I…

Thorpe park tickets
We've not been to a Theme park for awhile, what's the best way to book tickets these days? I'd probably book a hotel for one night, but struggling to work out if it's best to book in advance, take advantage of the 2-4-1 offer or go via Blue Light Card? Any tips most welcome? Premier inn will cost around £57 for one…

Does Booking Accommodation Direct Have Any Any Benefits
I was looking to book a weekend away in Blackpool for a large group meetup. I have found a lovely-looking holiday home on Airbnb but also came across the same place on another website where you can book directly with the owners. Do you think there are any benefits to booking directly with the owners, apart from the obvious…

Camping without a car, possible?
Hi folks, As my title says, do people think it is possible to go camping with two people without a car? Are there places I could get to that have good facilities that are near train stations or bus routes in England or Wales? Or am I being unrealistic thinking I could lug camping gear across public transport? If anyone has…

Easiest way to Manchester from Watford
Planning a weekend away. The options are drive, coach or train. For coach and train, I have to go all the way into London just to get a train or coach out again, so I was thinking car would be easiest (and probably) quicker (and maybe even cheaper!), but I'm not sure how easy it is to park in Central Manchester for a…

Recommend London Hotel/Apartment/Room/AirBnB - Cheapish up to £60pnn
For single person (no hostels, please) - somewhere central, not miles out. I used to use a twin room for about £55 with en-suite at the European Hotel near Kings Cross, but their prices have gone up massively to £90+ since last year.

Europ Assistance insurance for AirBnB bookings - does it cover rail strikes?
I'm looking at booking an AirBnB during June, but wondering about cancellation policy due to rail strikes. Rail strikes aren't currently announced for mid June, but I don't want to chance it. The AirBnB booking offers additional Europ Assistance insurance, but I can't find any mention of whether it covers cancellation due…

I usually check booking.com, hotels.com and the hotel direct but I did comparison search at skyscanner and kayak and these 2 had the best price for the hotel I was looking at by almost a third which obviously makes you wonder.....

Hotels with ground floor rooms
How do we find one without actually ringing each potential hotel? The usual websites are not clear enough, and we don't need a room with disabled facilities. All we want is a room where we don't have to negotiate steps.
