Chester for a few days

Looking to fill the days as much as possible though will only be there for two full days.
The zoo is on the list where we'll be doing https://www.chesterzoo.org/lanterns-and-light/
Nothing else as yet is booked up. We don't mind walking at all if that helps. What should we be looking at first over other things in your opinion? The OH's work colleagues suggestion of heading to Cheshire Oaks shopping centre got redirected straight to the Recycle Bin!
We enjoy historic things but then at the same time wouldn't necessarily want any suggestions to be 100% museums if you get me?
Just looking for suggestions is all.

I guess the question is:
Why did you choose to go to Chester in the first place ?0 -
If its only two days the zoo will fill a day, other day can be spent in Chester. Walk around the walls, cathedral, Roman history, shops etc.
If you want to escape the city Llangollen and Pontysyllte Viaduct are worth a visit.3 -
