Backdated State Pension
I am currently drawing my State Pension but do not get the full State Pension as I have 3 years of NI contribution shortfall . With the change in the law , if I make these 3 years voluntary contributions, will the increase in my State Pension be backdated to the date that I started drawing down my State Pension?

National Insurance gaps
I'm trying to boost my wife's State Pension, but can't get through to the Future Pension Centre. When I check her NI gaps on the Gov website, the years from 2006 to 2019 show as "Year is not full", but when I click on these they all have the same message : "We are checking this year to see if it counts towards your…

My husband is considering paying some voluntary national insurance contributions to make up incomplete years in his national insurance contributions record. Is it possible for him to take some of my completed years to top up his record?

CF83 processing time reduced by 4.5 months in 2 weeks.
Hi, Submitted a CF83 several months ago and 2 weeks ago the online tool was saying expected reply by end November 2023 but today it says expected reply in a few days time. Is it possible that this is correct and they have cleared around 4.5 months of backlog in 2 weeks or is the tool completely wrong? I don’t see how this…

Backdating claim for NI Credits - possible ?
I am receiving NI credits based on a non-paying ESA claim. I was put in the support group I was wondering what the rules said about backdating this claim (and associated NI credits) since I am still over 7 years short to be paid a full state pension in 7 years time..... According to…

NI gap query
My husband and I have been looking at our state pension forecasts. His shows on his forecast he has paid in for 48 years and still has 2 years contributions to make to get his full payment. On the face of it we wouldn't have queried this however, we both worked for the same company (albeit I started 8 years after him) were…

National Insurance Payment Gaps
Hi, Wondering could someone help me please?I am wishing to make a voluntary tax contribution but I can never get through on the phone number- 0800 731 0175. I just find it highly frustrating that I'm trying to pay them but no one will answer my call. I can only get through so far on the phone and it automatically hangs up…

Future Pension Centre phone statistics
Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere already, but a written Parliamentary question was answered (unlike most phone calls....) in late May, outlining the number of calls made to FPC by 4 week period and what happened to them. It's clear that they weren't prepared for the massive increase in call volumes around the…

Grandparents NI top up
I look after my grandson and so does his other nan. I need 2 years to top uo my NI contributions for my pension. If I claim in retrospect (up until last April) could his other nan make a claim in the future if she needs to top up. I've read that only one person can claim but wasn't sure if that meant at the same time.

National Insurance gaps - confusing advice from HMRC
My wife has checked her contributions record, called the Pension Forecast line and wants to make a payment to fill tax year 2015/2016 (as its only £253 short and she no longer works other than a casual seasonal job). Today she called HMRC to get the 18 digit number in order to make a one-off payment, however, they told her…

FUTURE PENSIONS CENTRE
Like many others, I have been trying for weeks to get in touch with the Future Pensions Centre, as I have questions that a website can't answer. Every single time I ring I either get immediately cut off, or continuously get the engaged tone after the automated message. In despair, I wrote to them on 21 February 2023 and…

Ill Health Works pension AND self employed wasn’t paying NI contributions, can I buy them now?
I’m aged 67 now, retired from work on “ill health” round about 2000 and was in receipt of workplace pension so no NI contributions were taken, although I believe that me being in receipt of Incap Ben at that time covered my credits. Around 2006/2007 I decided to come off the benefit and try to work, not necessarily for…

Voluntary Contributions for the tax year in which I reach State Pension Age?
Today I rang HMRC to obtain my reference number to pay Voluntary Class 3 for the last four contribution years. No problem. Answered within 15 minutes (I rang at just after 08.00). It is exactly what I was expecting it to be. However, the advisor agreed my figures and gave me the number, but then he told me I could increase…

Voluntary NI contributions
My husband reaches state retirement age in 2025. His NI record shows he has 38 years of full contributions, but his pension forecast states that to get his full forecasted pension he needs to make continue to make contributions until he reaches retirement age. We understood that 35 years full contributions were sufficient…

Voluntary NIC to top up state pension
My sympathy with all who - like I was for weeks - failing to get through to HMRC for advice on this topic and then receive advice. Keep trying, an 18 digit reference number will be given to you when you speak to someone. Armed with this number, HMRC sort code and account number (and amount to pay for the 4 years of NIC I…

Voluntary NI contributions
My wife is short of 7 years NI contributions to get the full new State Pension and we are going to plug the gaps by buying years. During the years that she has no NI contributions, she was self employed as a Childminder on low income/low profit and hence exempt from paying National Insurance. In hindsight we should have…

Wonder if there are any experts who can advise. I will be 65 in September, I retired from the civil service at age 60 with 42 years NI contributions , opted out of SERPS. My current pension forecast is £165.13 If I pay NI up until pension age forecast is £176.78 , i am assuming that would be two financial year payments of…
