Is it possible to eat "healthy" on a £150 per month budget?
I have a separate budget of £5 per day for meals at work. So, this £150 is to cover two meals per day. Is it possible to eat healthy on this budget? Is it possible to get the 5 a day as advised? I have struggled living alone and cooking food for myself and I'm starting to feel rather useless at life. Also, I don't know…

Inspire me for Christmas Eve?
For those that don’t have a big family meal on Christmas Eve, what are you planning to eat. I’m thinking something lighter before the blow out of the next couple of days, but I’m bored with everything I normally cook and salad doesn’t appeal in winter. Hit me with your suggestions.

O/S Daily Monday 23rd December 2024
Good morning, it's dry here and I think the wind has dropped, thank heavens. I went to T*sco yesterday, think I was lucky to get out in one piece! It was packed with wild eyed shoppers with piled high trolleys forging their way round - at one point I was in a total trolley jam, pressed up against a fixture, had to just…

Weekly Flylady Thread 16 December 2024
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

So far it’s been mostly soups a bit I thought we could share some ideas to make the most of the cheap food and stock up the freezer. * Soup ( millions of variants!!) *…

Good morning sll. It's been a dreadful night, the winds roared and, by the sound of it, hailstones bounced off the windows endlessly. May have been icy rain. I'll be back.

Best/Easiest Roast Potato Recipe
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anybody has a reliable recipe for roast potatoes? I tried to make them last year for Xmas but they never turned golden in the oven despite being in there for nearly an hour! Hoping to try another recipe and do a dummy run before the big day. Thanks!

Morrisons five points per item deal.
Just a little trick for the above offer. If you buy loose Bananas, spread them out individually along the checkout belt, so you then get five points per Banana instead of just five points for the bunch. Just saying, LOL. This could also work, maybe, for any loose fruit or veg. I would probably draw the line at loose…

Park Homes. Pro's and Con's
Hello Am looking at Park Homes. I understand all the different kinds of sites and the rules for occupancy. My question is about cost and value for money. The site I am looking at is quiet and minimum when it comes to 'facilities'. So no pools or discos ! The site fees include water and sewage. Gas and electric is extra.…

Pickled onions for Christmas!
Posting this in here after not many comments in the 'I want it' forum. Always a good idea to try Old Style! I'm a great fan of pickled onions and used to make my own. Unfortunately illness has meant that I haven't been able to make any for a few years now and I'm reliant on the commercially-available ones. Can anyone…
