Morning, thanks Gers, glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.
Cold and damp outside, yesterday the rain was heavy when I went out to meet dg d to go to the Metrocentre, and so foggy. However we got there and spent some money. Well, I spent some money. She still wasn't 100% though.
Thanks for the carol Taff, made me feel quite Christmassy
Dp1, you're understandably sad about your mam's deterioration in health, I'm so sorry. You've got a lot on your plate.
Going out this morning to visit one of my house bound friends, she's a bus ride away, not too far though. It's her birthday next Tuesday so I'll take her card today. The post can be unreliable.
When I get back I'll nip straight out to the Post Office to send a parcel, then hopefully I'll be in for the rest of the day, so might get a few jobs done. I'm woefully behind with Christmas prep, I must get down to it.
Hope everyone's ok and has good days. Take care folks.11 -
It's not as cold as yesterday, temperature is in plus figures.Monday was fairly peaceful until I realised that I hadn't done my weekly spreadsheet last week, that meant some backtracking catching up. 😂😂 And it kept me busy too. Lunch was still lasagna, bored with it now but ploughing through, final portion left for today. In the evening I had a long telephone chat with my favourite cousin in Berlin, he's emailed me twice recently, including last night, so phoning was easier than replying. He's starting the slow close down of his legal practice, the inevitable consequence of aging.@WL- sea mail to Oz is much better even if it takes longer. The parcel I sent my SIL in QLD earlier this year also cost an eye watering amount and she still hasn't said thank you! No more.@DP1 - your lovely Mum is in good hands with you and your family. Loving and caring for her will see you through. 💕
@TA - I hope that the wreath making went well.Onward and upward here. I'm feeling so much better, pain hugely diminished even if I still have some small difficulties. The nightly AB may just be working this time. 🤞
I hope that everyone is doing well11 -
Morning allGlad your feeling alot better GersSitting here waiting for 7.30am to do an e consult which opens then but the flipping website is down grrrrrr. I've been taking the medicine for my sinuses prescribed to me 20 days ago and it has calmed it a little but it is still there and it seems won't go away on it's own. Will keep trying anywayMaking a sponge cake this morning to take to DSs for Christmas day so will freeze and decorate it on the day. Have a pile of washing to either hang out or put on the airer. Don't really think it will dry outside but will decide when I open the curtains.Have a good day all x11

Hi
Hope everyone is ok and the poorlies feel better soon.Just a cough here which seems to be non-existent for hours at a time then when it happens, is exhausting. It’s most odd. Slept all night without coughing and now have just coughed solidly for 20 minutes and give myself a headache 😂
I did manage a dog walking yesterday and a quick foray to the Post Office. I’ll just be sewing again today because being quiet and still seems to be best! Fortunately I told work I couldn’t be in for today’s exams either. I’m due there Thursday so will see how I am tomorrow. Strange thing is I don’t feel unwell.Anyway enough of my waffle
take care all

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I'm pleased the one a day a/b is doing it's job. Hope it lasts. After yesterday's deluge which went on most of the day today we are promised a sunny day. Sadly it will struggle to reach double figures. Oh well, you can't have everything.
After yesterday morning's panic that it was the 1st December I got stuck into writing the cards. I'd forgotten what a long job it was and I was wilting when I finished. The 3 Oz ones can go off tomorrow. It's a ridiculous amount to just post a card there nowadays but the cost of sending the mint humbugs was eyewatering WL! I'm glad we no longer send presents.
It's supposed to be lunch with DF today but if she cancels I might make a start on the decs. I no longer go to town with the job now and, as much I like a real tree, I now just have a twig light tree with some "ice" ornaments on it. It's amazed me how many houses are now trimmed up this early and some really do look spectacular.
Well less said about the wreath making last night the better!! I seemed to overload it with too much greenery and it weighs a ton! I shall try and trim it back this morning to see if that lightens it. Otherwise the weight of it might bring the front door down! But it was a fun evening with lots of laughter among all the ladies. Some had made a better job of their wreaths than others.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or lonely. DP1 I was sorry to read your DM is now struggling too. Life is tough for you. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad the medication is keeping your symptoms at bay.
It seems dry outside after lots of overnight rain, may get the washing out today for a while.
I have the lurgy. Sore head, slight cough, slight runny nose and no energy - just when I was beginning to feel better! DD and the little one are the same, we're blaming the little one's other Granny, she had the lurgy when she called in to DDs last week.
Thanks for the carol taff, look forward to many more.
Hope your wreath making was a success TA and glad you enjoyed your DGD's show.
Glad you got some Christmas shopping done Scarlet, like you I'm really behind.
Hugs to you dp1.
I finished the little jumper yesterday so that can be wrapped this morning, I'm seeing the family tomorrow hopefully so can hand the gifts over.
Not a lot planned for today apart from taking the little dog for a walk.
Hugs to the poorlies, take care. XX11 -
Morning all
Cold and damp here but not raining at present some due later I think. I only have one person coming today as the other is poorly it’s a shame as we had booked tickets for a GC who put on the most wonderful winter wonderland walk it’s just stunning and she will lose her ticket money but it can’t be helped, they also have a huge Christmas shop so I am bound to come home with a few decorations, we are taking packed lunch but will probably have tea and cake while there.
Its OH Birthday today this is the last one before Xmas ( thank goodness as it’s a very expensive time of the year) we will do presents tonight when we are all home.
Dinner tonight will be salmon / egg fried rice with peas and baby corn in the rice, I must get the salmon out of the freezer after this. The dehumidifier and heater are still going and the noise Is driving me mad I so hope it has dried out enough when they come back Friday, yesterday I spent several hours trying to find the tiles to match but have had no luck at all, we now need to decide if we will change the whole floor or get a different one in the utility and loo, there is no door between the kitchen and those rooms so I think it will look a bit odd if it’s different 🤷♀️Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Morning everyone
Dry and bright here this morning, yesterday was miserable with drizzly rain all day.
Thanks for the good wishes about my mam...the problem is that they're just in my 'good hands'...my two brothers are as much use as chocolate fireguards, as my dad used to say and think that both parents 'should be put in a home'...their words!
I'll go down this morning for a cuppa before work as I got some more presents for mam yesterday.
Oops I've just looked at the time and I need to make my lunch and get dressed. I've spent a while this morning printing invitations for little ones birthday in January - why do printers never just work when you want them to?
I'll maybes pop back on after work, hope everyone has a good day x11 -
❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
in the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
we're happy tonight,
walking in a winter wonderland.Gone away is the bluebird,
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
as we go along,
walking in a winter wonderland❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Morning! It's sunny! So that means outside jobs today, I think I'll dig up some of the plants I wan to move to the allotment, either because they're going to get too big for where they are or because I don't like them, bubblegum smelling philadelphus, I'm looking at you...I made a ham and leek pie last night with the boiled ham from the freezer so that's tonight as well, with sprouts [ love a sprout, it's so nice when they're back in season]. My friend and I posted our parcel to our friend in Germany yesterday so that's done and I've just seen the binmen for their box of Christmas chocolates so that's one lot of them done [ recycling crew to come] ...And that's it for today

dp1, such a shame about your mum, you have a lot on your single plate, I can't imagine how stressful it is...but we'll always listen...Ruby, what a shame, what about contacting a manufacturer and asking, sometimes they might have some lurking but not enought o put on a website...Allie, well, if it continues, you know, get it checked out. I've had a dry cough since I had the lurgy in March I think, it's all been investigated and doesn't seem to be anything nefarious, but it is annoying and I also feel fine generally. camelot, sorry you've got the lurgy too, not what you need after or during recovery..Scarlet, happy future bithday to your firend, mine too
Happy Christmas prep day! Gers, same with lasagne, you can't really make a small one but there's a cookbook, one pot one portion, which has a lasagne bowl instead of actually making a big one, and it looks lovely...TA, well done making the wreath! More is more
Chris, that's a good idea, freezing the cake...Izzy, glad your friend is getting some results...next time you do the freezers, get some work gloves on, I have some fleece ones on the inside but rubbery ont he outside and I use those
Right, off to do stuff, take care all!

Morning all, lovely and bright today, a lot better than all the rain yesterday. Thanks for starting Gers, and the carol Taff.Nice dog walk earlier through the woods. Hugs dp1.We went to our friends and spent an hour with them before school pick up, they don't get out much at all due to her anxiety etc. so were pleased to see us. I had taken three separate portions of cottage pie from the freezer, put them all in one dish before reheating , so a bit more space in there now. I 'm like you Izzy- I need to rearrange the chest freezer now!I posted some cards yesterday but have run out of 2nd class stamps, I'm not putting 1st class on!Chicken thighs in some form later.Hope you have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
