Good morning, thanks Gers. Glad you're feeling a bit better.
Wonderful to hear from you yesterday Tru!
You did well raising all that money Coxy.
It's raining here, yesterday was dry but oh so cold, I went out to a local shopping centre, and the wind was like a knife.
I'm supposed to be taking dgd shopping today, if she's fully recovered, we'll see. It'll be the Metrocentre I think, one of her favourite shops is there.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day.
Take carevfolks.8 -
Morning all
thanks for the start Gers, hope you feeling better
Great to hear from Tru
Busy weekend of craft fairs - one good, one mediocre which seems to be the pattern this year. My scratchy throat has finally turned into a cough - don’t really feel unwell, haven’t had a cough for years! Anyway no exam invigilating - don’t think they’d enjoy my coughing interruptions!!
Need to pop to the PO with two bagfuls of online craft orders but will wait until the Monday morning rush has subsided.Take care all

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you're feeling better today.
After a very cold and frosty day yesterday it turned into torrential rain in the evening and got very windy - seems calmer today. Washing was nearly dried outside yesterday in the sunshine, just needed to be aired off by the stove later on.
I was up and out early yesterday for a trip to Costco with a friend and her DD and filled up with petrol whilst I was there, it's 9p per litre cheaper than locally! Bought a couple of Christmas presents and wrapped them when I got home. Didn't do much else as I have a bit of a cough and cold coming on, thankfully I'm still not at work.
How lovely to hear from you tru, glad Scampi and the hens are well. Don't be a stranger!
Well done on the craft fairs Allie.
Enjoy your shopping trip Scarlet.
Congrats on the fundraising Coxy.
Nothing much planned for today apart from finishing the jumper I'm knitting for a little one for Christmas.
Take care. XX7 -

Morning! Happy December to come! It's raining, set to continue all day looks like...Nothing much planned today, going to see a friend so we can organise a parcel for a friend in Germany, and then the rest of the day, nothing much..
Tru, how lovely to see you, sorry about the anxiety, it's such a pain and sorry for misnomering Scamp as Zeus,,,And it's never a private conversation on here, you're always welcome, as is anyone else so don't go feeling odd about that at least
Gers [ et al] Happy Scottish Day yesterday, good to hear the op isn't far away...Coxy, well done for all your findraising, it's nice to know you'll be helping people you may never even have met. Ruby, glad they're reimbursing you for the electric, hope you find some tiles...Take care all, enjoy the decoration putting up if you are...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Heavy rain earlier but now it's just rain. The heavy stuff due to return later.
I got up in a panic this morning. 1st December and way behind with stuff Xmassy. I've never been this far behind. Cards to write, gifts still to buy and then all to wrap (or gift bag) The only thing I am ahead with is food!! The Christmas food stash in the freezer is growing nicely and the decoration boxes have been dragged out of hiding, but yet to put up.
Today I must get my arris into gear and at least write the cards. Early evening I am going to a wreath making session at the hospice where my Bob was looked after so well, plus where DD now works. It's a fund raising evening so she is treating me to an early present... Everything necessary is provided and you can bring the wreaths home. Whether mine will be presentable enough to hang on the front door remains to be seen!
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad, lonely or getting better. Take care all, be safe xx
Sorry Taff, cross posting, thanks for the carol xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"4 -
Morning all. Dark and wet here, with no sign of things improving.
DH put some Christmas lights up across the front yesterday. I didn't think he was going to bother this year but they've gone on a timer to come on at 4pm as usual. We've also had two Christmas cards arrive. I've written about half of ours then ran out of nice cards so will finish the list another day. We also posted a box to Australia containing 5 bags of mint humbugs - just the sort of bags you buy in the supermarket. Well, I was so shocked to find they cost us £33 at the Post Office! DH's sister and family in Sydney will have to make them last as we won't be sending any more!
Off to the Light Trail at Kew Gardens later. We're meeting friends there at 5pm but I think waterproofs will still be needed.
Happy December everyone. Hope the tablets tide you over for the next 3 weeks Gers and look after yourself everyone.4 -
What a joy to have the carols again - thanks @Taff. I've opened, but not yet eaten, my first Advent calendar window (white Hotel Chocolat), it's a wee Santa. I'm keeping him for pudding later.Yesterday was bitterly cold, even at 2p.m. the back garden grass was crispy. I retreated into 'recovering' mode and watched a lot of recorded films, most of which I'd seen before. The pain is still hovering although hugely diminished, still doing lots of urgent movements.I'm not going to exercise class, I can't be there rushing back and forth. Now I'm not venturing out into the horrible wet and gray. Today is committed to monthly and weekly spreadsheets, a lot of tweaking to be done.
@AA - sorry that you're coming down with a cough, usual stuff - fluids and rest - and healing hug too.Take care all.5 -
Morning all, ooh carols Taff, seems to have come round very quickly. Very wet today, not sure if Lendog will want to venture out shortly, he isn't keen on rain.Yesterday we put up more of the decs, just the garland round the front door but we needed cable ties for that so we went to Tes co as planned & got some, as well as the wine deal and also got 2 beef joints and 1 pork- wish it was that price all year round. Safely stashed in the freezer now- just about managed to squeeze it in after taking out an apple pie for tea & I made a pork and apple casserole .DS2 called with DGS in the afternoon.Hope you all have a good day:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Raining here too and meant to stay all day and for the foreseeable. I am off to mums today to do some work, I will cook her a dinner for tonight while I am there, I am going to start to wrap her Christmas presents too as she has bought a lot of people sweets and chocolates and she will be tempted to eat them otherwise and as she is diabetic it’s not good for her.
No tiles were found in the loft room 🙄 so now the search goes on to find some as they have been discontinued, I only need 22 tiles ish so I hope someone has some, it’s the same flooring throughout the kitchen utility and loo so it would be good to get the same ones.
Dinner tonight will be the rest of the roast from yesterday the beef was delicious and very tender, the dogs enjoyed the leftovers too.
Coxy well done on your fundraising xxx
Taff thanks for the carol xx
Have good days all and take care xx3 -
Morning everyone
Just a quickie from me as I've woken up with a migraine, not helpful on a Monday morning.
I need to go to the post office this morning, to post my laptop back to Amazon. It won't switch on and, after a lengthy conversation with an advisor, they have agreed to give me a refund once they receive it. I've only had it since June. So I'm using my old very slow one....like me!
I applied for Pip again but got zero points, so am going to ask for a mandatory reconsideration. It's 2 years since I last applied, and my symptoms of Long Covid are worse, especially my mobility. So I've got that to sort this week.
No decorations up here yet, I've promised little one she can help do it at the weekend, it's still a bit early but she'll be here and very willing!
I wrapped mams presents up yesterday for her, which made me feel quite sad...she had moved things from where I'd put them, the gift cards were in a completely different place, and the writing she'd done in cards was so shaky and there were no envelopes to fit them , as for the euros I got her for DD, half were in her purse and who knows where the rest have gone! It made me feel all churned up for the rest of the day...I've got it off my chest now.
Right I'd best move, hope everyone has a good day and thanks for the first carol Taff x0
