Average speed cameras on A-roads - how do they work?
This will test anyone who responds to just a thread title vs reading the message body :) With the static cameras with the white lines painted on the road you knew exactly where the 'capture zone' was. But you enter one of these average zones after one camera. You're driving towards a camera that's facing you - at what…

Local Authorities - Permit rip off in cost in living crisis...
Hopefully this is the correct forum, I've created a petition in the hope it will get enough signatures and thus be discussed at a higher level of government. In a nut shell this doesn't seem to be limited to a specific local authority as far as I am aware, where parking permits were originally introduced so that people…

Do I pay CC if I parked up and didnt drive the few days I was in London
Drove into London on Sunday evening (9:25pm) and parked in a secure car park within the CC Zone. Didn't move or drive the vehicle on Monday but moved the vehicle on Tuesday. Do I pay for 1 day (Tuesday) or 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) or 3 days (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The CC website says clearly that the charge is for…

Renewal of Car Insurance 60% Increase
One of my family members who is 82 years old has had there renewal price increased by 60%. There is no changes on the policy, only does 4,000 miles a year, no accidents in previous year. Is this due to car insurance getting more expensive in the last year or due to being 82 years old or a combination.

I have quote from bodyshop recommended to me and that I'd like to use. Neighbour says that he will pay for repair, although he had tried to get me to use a body shop that…

Have our laws/Highway Code been updated with DRL
European Union Directive 2008/89/EC required all passenger cars and small delivery vans first type[clarification needed] approved on or after 7 February 2011 in the EU to come equipped with daytime running lights. So many vehicles on our roads today should have DRL, although my 2014 Zafira does not have them.Being able to…

Car Accident in Gloucester, at fault, driving safety course offered - should I take it?
I had an RTA in Gloucester at a historically hairy junction according to the locals that were present at the time. At pitch-black night I went through a giveway without stopping as I thought it was a straight road (decieved by my satnav) then collided with a vehicle in the road. Thankfully nobody was majorly hurt, I…

Driving Licence renewal at 70 - preserving C1 & D1 entitlement
My 70th birthday is rapidly approaching. My current licence includes Classes C1 & D1. These would be lost if I renewed online. To keep them I need to apply using Forms D2 & D4, but all forms are unavailable during Covid emergency. Are there any solutions to this conundrum ?

Peugeot 3008 - 30000 miles full service history engine failure
We bought a shiny black Peugeot 3008 Diesel in January for £16000. Full service history. It is September - we have a Peugeot garage telling us the engine needs replacing at a total cost of £11,000. Is there anything we can do?

London ULEZ, GRRRRR
I drove into London on 2 consecutive days on the 7th and 8th May and paid the ULEZ charges in one go on the 9th. They then sent me a bill for a penalty charge for the 8th (but not the 7th). I duly returned the form with the appeal bit filled in. Last week I received a new bill for £270 as a penalty for not paying the…

Car accident ,NF, who shall I get to repair it?
Been involved in a car accident. While talking to my insurers I received a text from the other party saying their policy holder admitted liability and they will look into getting my car repaired. I told my insurers about this text. Just waiting for the repair shop nominated by my insurance company to contact me to arrange…

Renewing existing car insurance
I received a renewal quote for my car insurance which was more than 40% more expensive than last year, when I called Hastings they offered me a £10 reduction. I used the Moneysupermarket tool, as well as Compare the Market to shop around. I found a considerably cheaper quote which I opted for. I contacted Hastings to…

Temporary licence loss
My driving licence was recently revoked for medical reasons. I'm confident this is only temporary, due to a GP being over-cautious (in my opinion, obviously). But the worst case scenario is that it might be August next year before I can drive again. I'm currently awaiting test results that could conceivably give me the…

What to do with main dealer washing their hands
Cousin has a pretty new Toyota hybrid which wouldn’t start. AA, as the assigned breakdown service under the Toyota warranty, attended his home and diagnosed the problem as a dead starter battery. AA state that the warranty doesn’t allow recovery back to the dealers. Cousin called dealers who state it’s his problem, not…
