Buying a van on Hp

Hi Everyone. I'm in need of advice on purchasing a van on hp.

I realistically have until end of March 25 to get a deal done so that i can claim the full purchase price towards this years accounts. Problem is there is a 3 month wait for a specific truck that i want. Can i order a new truck on hp now and wait for delivery and start to pay the monthly fees when i take delivery or do i have to have physical possession of it before end of March. Hope this makes sense . Thanks

Usually finance only starts once you take possession of the vehicle.

This has been advice received and wonder if this is correct.

I been advised You should really have taken physical delivery of the van by the end of March.

 

Signing an H.P. is not necessarily an unconditional agreement to pay for the van (as you still have a cooling off period and can cancel the van/agreement), so this is not sufficient.

Is there any way around this ? Thanks

New or secondhand? 

Can you do a search round smaller van dealers (ie small dealers who do vans (I mean in terms of numbers of vans offered for sale, not their stature), not dealers who do small vans), being smaller means they'll often be able to get you into the van quicker (sometimes even that same day). You could sort out HP with an independent financier too - there's loads around.

Just a suggestion, maybe if you did HP on a cheap secondhand van this year, and geared up for a March 2026 new van if you wanted/needed a new one eventually?
