Advice needed. Licensing. Re test after ban insurance

Hi, I originally passed my test in 2008, in 2015 I was banned and then banned one or more times afterwards, I now have to take an extended test. My Question is, when I’m looking to take out insurance it asks how long I’ve held a licence, on my provisional it says I’ve held it since 2008, when I pass my test will it still say 2008? Or will that change to 2025? Does the 7/8 years i held a licence not count towards my driving history? Do I say I’ve held my licence for less than 1 year or can I say o held it for 7 years? Thanks

I think you put from 2008 - although how much difference what date you put will make I'm not sure...1

Ideally use one of the many systems where you enter your driving licence number and the firm gets the information it needs directly from the DVLA and therefore do not need to answer these questions.1

The start date is shown on the back of your licence beside the car symbol.2

With two disqualifications you might need to go through a specialist insurer, they will also be better at making sure you declare everything correctly.0

Or more. The OP doesn't seem to be sure.MattMattMattUK said:With two disqualifications you might need to go through a specialist insurer, they will also be better at making sure you declare everything correctly.2 -
The disqualifications are now all spent. I have 1 left for DUI but that expires and is removed next year. I’m looking through standard insurers. No need for specialist. As I will have a clean licence (bar the DUI that I do not have to declare)MattMattMattUK said:With two disqualifications you might need to go through a specialist insurer, they will also be better at making sure you declare everything correctly.0 -
It makes a £1000 difference 😅DE_612183 said:I think you put from 2008 - although how much difference what date you put will make I'm not sure...0 -
On my provisional it says 2008 for car entitlement. But once I receive my full licence will it still say 2008… I’m trying to work out how much insurance will be before I pass my test lol. Just a bit impatient to wait and find out.sheramber said:The start date is shown on the back of your licence beside the car symbol.0 -
OP, the date in column 10 on your licence is the "valid from" date. I may be wrong, but that suggests it will be the date you pass your new test, not 2008, since it certainly hasn't been valid since then.1

I know that yes. But I haven’t had a provisional since 2008, got it in 07 passed in 08 had full uk licence for 7/8 year, this is a new provisional as I had to re apply for it, and it still states 2008, i have googled this but there seems to be conflicting information. So was hoping I could get some clarification on here.Car_54 said:OP, the date in column 10 on your licence is the "valid from" date.
