New Greenhouse
After my last greenhouse only lasted 6 months, next weekend I get a Rhino greenhouse put in. My question is all the plants such as tomatoes and courgettes I tried growing in the house have not worked. Will it be too late to plant seeds next weekend? Or should I give up and buy plug plants? I am in the East of Scotland.

Help identifying plant please
Hi I have quite a few of these things sprouting up around the garden, to me they look a bit 'lillyish'. if The Mrs took a photo of the plant to work and someone said that they were 'invasive'. This person probably doesn't know what they are talking about, but I don't want to take the chance. Can anyone identify them as…

Juiced Garlic Spray?
Early days yet but has anyone used garlic to fend off pests, i have put about ten garlic bulbs through my juicer and only just filled my spray bottle. Money Moral Dilemma: Should I ask my dad's wife to pay me for my houseplant?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... Five months ago, I asked my dad's green-fingered wife if she could use her skills to nurse an orchid back to health for me. It's now looking healthy and pretty - but on their windowsill. Should I ask her to pay me for it if she wants to keep it, or should I just let her have…

Accidental onion sets?
A couple of years ago I was given onion sets which I planted, watered, waited for the perfect moment to harvest... then neglected. They are still there but on closer inspection each is now a cluster of two or three small onions sitting more or less on the surface. Can I grow these babies on as with the original sets, and…

Bosch cordless mower battery
I have come into posession of a Bosch Rotak 36V cordless mower after the death of my mum. When I last cut her grass in October it was working fine, but trying it today the battery has no charge and it doesn't seem to want to take a new charge - the green light on the charger flashes when I insert the battery (indicating…

Robot lawnmower with lots of obstacles
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience with robotic lawnmowers and how they deal with lots of obstacles like trees, swings and trampolines? I am considering getting a Flymo EasiLife Go 250 (when it comes down in price again) but am worried it will just get stuck or confused in my garden and not cut the whole lawn.…

Chlorosis in Rose
Anyone have tips on dealing with severe chlorosis due to lime leaching? I had some fence replaced last year and the rose is just next to it. I noticed the rose starting to struggle badly late last year with the foliage showing chlorosis. I tried the usual things of adding compost, adding Iron as sulphate. A few months ago,…

Grotty shower seal after 8 months any tips for cleaning rather than buying new one?
Hello, Grotty shower screen seal after 8 months any tips for cleaning rather than buying new one? The seal itself is totally fine as was only installed 8 months ago. Would be shame to throw it out and buy a new one…save the environment etc. Thought I could take it off and soak it in something but it’s long and awkward.…

Has anyone ever brought the miniature fruit trees that can be kept in pots? Pardon the pun but were they fruitful? Did they take well or produce a good amount? Shed - wish we'd never bothered!
Before I start, I know this isn't very MSE, but we are replacing our decent garden shed with new one, which will be delivered and built by the manufacturer. Reason being we are now in our mid/late 60s and, while fit and healthy, we choose not to haul lumps of wood around if we don't have to. Not changing it now is just…

Cordless electric lawnmower recommendations?
Having recently broken our ancient small third-hand corded lawnmower and acquired a house with a largish lawn area I'm in need of a replacement and rather than faff with cables I'm tempted to go cordless (not interested in petrol) and looking for recommendations/advice!? Total lawn area 300-350 sqm although we plan on…

Killing ivy (the plant, no homicidal intentions)
I want to clear a patch of ivy. Under the carpet of leaves it’s all woody stems. It will therefore be easy to remove the leafy bits but do I then dig up the stems? How deep are they likely to be? I plan to put some euphorbia and stinking iris in the area since both seem happy to grow vigorously more or less anywhere in the…
