Potted Toms Advice?
Options
I grew a lot of veg from seed this year just as a experiment having never done this before, i made a lot of rookie mistakes but I'm learning as i go, I have several tomato plants in large pots which now have green toms on them and look very good to be honest.
I have suffered a lot of bug damage to other types of vegetables plants and i have filled some empty pots with marigolds after hearing they can help placed amongst veg, does anyone know if there is anything i need to be aware of with the tomatoes as I'm worries that bugs will be waiting to damage them if they ripen?

Congrats Spender
Once you've tried tomatoes warm from the plant you will be hooked.
Tomatoes seldom have bugs. The smell of the stems and hairs put them off.
Be careful of watering too much at once when you have fruit growing as that can cause them to split.
Better to have a tray under and water from there. But as you are obviously doing well so far just keep doing that.
Feeding tomatorite is often mentioned once the first fruits have formed, I rarely do and still have a good crop.
When the first one turns colour resist the temptation to pick it. It will emit something that will encourage the others to ripen quicker.
Sorry about the other veg. It's been terrible year for pests. I've never known the like. It's the dry still air and their desperation to nibble something moist.
But most recover given time. Winter veg especially. When it comes to clearing up for winter take any bug attacked to the tip otherwise the bugs may overwinter waiting for your next crop!
Good luck.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

One pest toms can suffer from is whitefly, more so under glass, not outside, your marigolds should help deter themAlso, red spider mite under glass, but needs a hot & dry atmosphere so damping down will keep them at bayAs 2P says, not many pests TBH, but I have known slugs to take a chomp at nice ripe onesThis time of year is getting near Blight time and this will do for them, no cure or prevention available to amateurs, just have to keep eyes open and fingers crossedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1
