Small Brown Eggs on Washing
Hello!
I wondered if anyone has any idea what these eggs are from please? They were on muslin face cloths in the blanket box, all line dried. I've checked and the Internet suggests clothes moth and carpet beetle eggs are cream in colour so thankfully not those? I'm a bit stumped.
They're about the size of poppy seeds and dark brown.

Two flannels had loads of them on!
Thanks for any suggestions you might have, am not panicking yet but wonder if I need to 😄

I see you have them in a jar. So just let them hatch, then post up another pic!1

It reminds me of something - but can't think what.Searching did no good. They are very like spider eggs and right time of year but those are usually wrapped up in silk
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I did wonder if it's those tiny spiders that all hatch in droves, we get them on the wheelie bin usually. I'm guessing they've been laid while the things were on the washing line. 🤔twopenny said:It reminds me of something - but can't think what.Searching did no good. They are very like spider eggs and right time of year but those are usually wrapped up in silk

Are you sure that they were laid while the washing was on the line? If so, could they be from an outdoor moth?1

Yes, I zoomed in on the pic to see if they were spiderlings! I also wondered about baby snails. But most arachnids and molluscs lay eggs in a mass, rather than nicely spaced out as these are. Equally, they just don't look like moth or beetle eggs. I really hope that they manage to hatch!twopenny said:It reminds me of something - but can't think what.Searching did no good. They are very like spider eggs and right time of year but those are usually wrapped up in silk1 -
Are you sure they are eggs, could be scats from something nesting in cloth.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke1

Snail eggs are translucent creamy white and much larger.
I've hatched some in an aquarium and it's fascinating. Quiite amazing watching them grow - as long as they aren't eating your plants.

Good suggestion, but they look too even in size for that and (unless it is imagination) there looks to be a darker embryo dot in each one.Are you sure they are eggs, could be scats from something nesting in cloth.1 -
Well they've hatched!
Possibly moth larvae? I do think theres a strong possibility they were laid on the cloth while they were on the line. At least I'm hoping so 😄 I was waiting to see if they chewed at the flannel as I did have concerns they were laid on a food source. Will be washing the rest of the towels from the blanket box as a precaution I think! I'm tempted to take them outside as it seems mean to keep them there if they need to look for some other food, I just dont know.
There's a LOT of them! 😱
