Lawn Recovery

Am on east coast of Scotland and last mowed lawn (hovered really) in middle of June. Over the last ten days had around 55mm of rainfall but grass does not seem to have restarted growth yet. Just wondering about other areas if they have seen any regrowth from lawns that have not been irrigated.

Only a tad of rain here but some mist, drizzle and lower temperatures and green is starting to appear.
    That in the south west.

    No where near needing mowing.
All the front lawns here look like straw still. The fields have remained brown and yellow. I think it's going to need to chuck it down to make any difference.

You could always spend the time cleaning and sharpening your mower if you're missing it  :)

Don't know about sharpening think I will be needing a wire brush to take the rust off, it has had so little use this year.Have been getting a bit concerned about the grass not starting to regrow as normally we would only have around six or seven weeks of growth left at this time of year to get it ready for winter.
Must be worry for farmers this year.

The only grass that has been growing around here is ryegrass some of which has gone to seed. I've given tidying cuts to two lawns recently although of course there's nothing to cut over much of the lawns. We've had almost no rain at all and the ground is very hard. Heavy rain would just run off and it will take a while and steady rain over a few weeks before it really gets into the ground.

However it's been so dry I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get some die off and even if it survives dormancy it will take a while for the roots to get going before it can start putting up green leaves.

    So i mowed mine today.

It is half green or a bit more and where it was growing it was about 4"long in places.
It was seeding and weeds coming in soo medium to high cut with a hover mower.

Looks ok and a lot greener. Tomorrow evening I'll start with a liquid feed.

I'm olding off with the raking of the dead stuff. May have to do it but sometimes you can get away without. Besides still very hot so hopefully it will keep the soil shaded.
    That's my excuse anyway  :D
