Save money mowing your lawn

If you have a safe closed off lawn, you could get a rabbit to keep your lawn short, saving electricity/petrol.
Did you know that rabbits only poop where they eat, so you can keep them indoors as long as their food is situated, so their bottoms are in a tray or something while they eat, your floor will remain unharmed.
You can also have them on your laps in the winter to keep you warm and pet them to de-stress while you watch the news.
When you have them nicely fattened up, you can dispatch it, skin it reserving the brain to treat the hide and put the meat and organs in the pot. If you cook it on a wood fire and burn the bones, that will be a great feed for your garden.
I feel like I might have taken money saving too far at some point....and possibly illegal.

Or to put it another way, the points I was trying to make was that you can use a rabbit to cut your lawn, saving money, another use is as a lap warmer. It was not to go into how great bunnies are as pets, or how to train your bunny so that you can have it free-range and a clean home, I had hoped that I hit the right balance between letting people know this was possible whilst letting them decide if they are interested enough to learn how to do it for themselves! I don't believe I made any suggestion towards them being disgusting, and I certainly did not want to encourage people to just go out and get one, as they are prey animals to have one freely running around your home takes compassion and thoughtful actions among other things. The question should really be can we only post if we are only willing to put a full manual on the subject?2

Your post made me chuckle - at least to start with.
While seeing it through to the end is actually practical it did make me wince.
I used to like a cat to keep me warm but a rabit would be more useful
How do they get on with hedgehogs?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

just use a proper manual mower for the best cut along with all the health benefits of the exercise, no need for rabbits, possible vets bills or needing to tread "carefully" on the lawn2

I kept two Guinea pigs in a 4' square pen on the lawn. I moved it round the lawn a few times a day and they would keep the lawn by the house short and fed all summer. I never needed to mow it.

having their food bowls in a large tray or on a mat might be useful as they can be quite messy eaters. not because of poop.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0
