Has anyone tried one of these strimmers which uses cable ties as the blades, sounds like a good idea but don't know how effective they are?

Interesting, maybe for heavy duty.
My first thought was if a bit flew off on hitting a stone say, it's going to hurt a darn sight more than a small bit of 'string'
I've got a lawnmower with similar, tried it once years ago just to see but the blade was easier to manage and lasts longer.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We had a strimmer with a fixed length of 'string'. It was a complete pain because when the string broke, which it did often, you had to stop strimming and replace it with a new piece. We had a replacement strimmer which had cable in a drum which you just fed out more of when it broke.

We have one and it’s absolutely brilliant! No effort at all to use, so much more convenient. And plenty powerful enough.RomfordNavy said:Has anyone tried one of these strimmers which uses cable ties as the blades, sounds like a good idea but don't know how effective they are?1
