Why different scores from different companies?
I'm registered with Experian, Clear Score and Credit Karma, and each gives me a different credit score. I'm not talking about a few points difference, for example, Experian has me in the high 600s whilst Credit Karma has me in the low 300s! Anyone have any idea why?

Dispute Credit File report from Mortgage Provider
hello, about 7 or 8 years ago I ran into some financial distress when a company I owned sadly had to close, this left me really struggling to meet mortgage payments for around 18 months, so much so my lender actually made an application for repossession. I made an agreement with them regarding paying the minimum…

Student Loan
I am a 72 year old Pensioner distance learning for my first degree so qualify for a full student loan. In final year so quite an amount built up. However I shall never meet the earnings threshold for repaymentI never see the loan as it is drawn down direct from Uni. Does this still impact on my credit score?

Credit report: Should I remove old linked address?
Hi, I've recently searched my credit report using the site checkmyfile. Whilst my report raises no concerns and is in good order for a potential mortgage application (about 2 months from now), there's a section of the CheckMyFile report showing a linked address that I no longer reside at. Whilst it is accurate that I was…

HMPO credit check!
Hi I was checking my Experian account and it showed that Her Majesty’s Passport Office made a Identification- Generic Check back in February 2022. Although it said it was a soft check, but I am worried because I did not apply for a passport renewal. My only recent dealing with HMPO was in November 2021 renewing my son’s…

I am however having issues with Equifax as i can't seem to create an account or request my paper report without being told to phone them up all the time, i don't…

Tenant Rental Exchange Initiative
My adult son (35) has moved back in with me temporarily in an attempt to save money for a house deposit. I'm charging him a small monthly rental which will be tax exempt under the rent-a-room scheme. My question is this - can I be considered his "landlady" and sign up as such to the Tenant Rental Exchange Initiative so…

Experian and ClearScore ratings inexplicably dropping!
Hi Money Savers. I hope someone who is more knowledgeable in the field of credit rating may be able to help me here. I've always kept an eye on my Experian score, usually once per year, and for many years I had a perfect score of 999 or thereabouts. I lived at home until my late 20s, never had any debt and always paid off…

Savings with a CIFAS marker?
Hi! So when I was a student I stupidly fell for one of those ‘squaring’ scams which turns out to be in hindsight pretty obvious money laundering. Santander reported my to CIFAS and I had my account with them as well as my HSBC shut down. I don’t need to be told how stupid I am etc. just looking for some advice. I use Monzo…

Is it possible to be mortgage ready in 2 years?
Hi all, thanks in advance for any help! I have up until recently had a large amount of debt (£10k+), and thanks to some stressful financial circumstances I unfortunately defaulted on a number of payments in the last 2/3 months. The debt was accrued over the last 7 years thanks to the awful cycle of maxing out cards, then…

Clearscore Alert - Unknown New Account
Hi. I received an email from Clearscore today to say that a new account is being added to my credit file. I haven't applied for anything recently, so this was instantly suspicious. The alert has very limited information and just says new account "Fluid ****". Obviously I'm concerned that someone may have opened an account…

Out of date credit card balances
I have been looking at my credit report from all three agencies (Transunion, Equifax & Experian). Both Transunion (Credit Karma) & Experian have my credit car balances incorrectly stated at around £52K versus the £39K I really have. It was £52K about 4 months ago but I have paid off £13K & I have also shuffled about some…

Experian vs MSE Credit Club
Is anyone able to explain why I have two different credit scores on Experian vs MSE Credit Club (which apparently uses Experian) please? My Experian score is significantly lower and claims that I have 1 negative influence on my report despite the fact that I've literally never missed a single payment or had any disputes…

Refund for Previously Disputed Defaulted Account
Hello, I have recently received a refund for a old account which is now closed and was previously marked as defaulted. This same account was one which I disputed with the DCA on how and why they entered a default marker on my file. Without boring you with details of the default I was wondering if the fact the original…

Credit Karma almost instantaneous update
I opened a new credit card account today at 12:00 and the hard search was on my Credit Karma report when I logged in at 2:00 PM. It may even have been there earlier although my email notification only came through at 3:30 pm. Either way this pretty good for a free credit report. Most of my hard searches have been with…

Indigo Michael/Safety Net Credit complaints
Hi everyone I hope I’ve started this thread in the right place. I have posted elsewhere about what’s going on in general but this relates to a specific company so wanted to highlight it separately for ease of answering/reading (which I hope is the correct approach!) My partner has discovered multiple ‘payday’ style loans…

Lowell debt/credit help
Hello! Apologies in advance if I haven't put or posted this in the correct place. I made a number of financial errors in earlier life and managed to pay and clear up quite a fair amount recently. This may be a stupid, stupid question but I have 3 accounts that are now with Lowell. If I partially satisfy this does it remain…

Account Closed - still appears in Credit Files
Hi - I changed my mobile phone (pay monthly) account with EE in March 2022. However, the account still appears in all three credit files. Therefore, can anyone shed some light on how long does it usually take for the account to no longer show in the Credit Report as active? Thanks.
