Rejected for a new phone - perfect credit score

Hi guys
Broke my phone at work on Monday. I compared deals and applied for a phone through a company on 3 network and get informed my application has been referred to the credit team at 3 but eventually it gets approved. I then had to cancel because I'd selected the wrong memory size for the phone.
I then apply again through mobile phones direct for a deal on 3 network, this time for the right phone. I get told my application has been referred again but this time its rejected and I cant have the phone.
On viewing my credit score on Experian it shows me as 999 out of 999. I can only guess they've rejected me due to cancelling the other phone just before?
What shall I do now? I know I shouldn't immediately apply again for another phone as it looks even worse on my credit score but I kind of need a phone right now.

Ignore the credit score and rating as that's for fun, it's the data used when assessing applications.
Options are try for a cheaper phone or buy one for cash.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -

Likely problem is multiple applications.

999 on Experian does not mean perfect, it means they have so little data they are unable to give you an actual score.

Just to clarify the cifas marker was due to someone trying to take things out in my name0

I once applied for a mobile phone through Tesco, on a 12 month contract deal they were offering at that time. Declined. No reason, I was employed with a fair salary, no debt. My credit history was clean. I assumed it was because I'd had a DRO but actually when I think about it, that had actually dropped off my credit reports by then.
I was more upset to be rejected than anything else. So I asked my daughter (self-employed at that time) if she'd apply - she wasn't hopeful because of being a freelancer but she did apply, was accepted without any problems and managed to also bag a good deal for me, we were then on Tesco's family plan which meant she got a discount and so did I. It turned out to be better all round. I could have rejected Tesco on the grounds that they were just downright cruel but then I felt that things turned out well for me and I did my daughter a favour, too. Now I also have a Tesco credit card (they accepted me for that after rejecting me for a phone!) with a limit of £3.5k - an absolute fortune to me but I don't ever use it unless I intend to clear the balance in full. Martin's words are planted in my brain.
What I'm trying to say is that sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. And being declined for one thing doesn't mean the same provider will also reject you later.
I agree with MovingForwards - try for a cheaper phone or buy one for cash.
I wouldn't apply for a phone with them again, no good flogging a dead horse. Send someone else in, like the FBI does. Like I did.

CIFAS + two applications in a very short time = suspicious.
You may have trouble getting credit for while, but unless someone here works for a CRA getting a definitive answer will be difficult.1 -
Its mad that having a cifas could be held against me.
I had someone call me in jan when I was the victim of fraud and the woman was very nice and laid back and said the marker is just there to protect me and nothing else. I'd of never of accepted if I knew it would harm my chances of getting credit.0 -
If it's a protective marker, it's not the reason you cant get a credit agreement.
More likely is a poor or lack of credit history. What do your files show?1
