You have a victim of impersonation CIFAS marker.2 mobile phone agreements are applied for in quick succession. That will set the alarms off.0

More likely is a poor or lack of credit history. What do your files show?
2 hard searches in the past year, one was in May.
The cifas marker
And that's about it. I never miss payments or had any issues before. I've been paying a mortgage for the past 8 years and not missed a single payment. I never miss payments on anything.

If all you have on your files is some searches, that's the issue.
Do you not have any accounts showing at all, any kind of credit history on any of the three files?0 -
I've contacted my bank, spoke to a friendly guy. They think this marker likely isn't helping credit file and they're going to escalate my case to try and get it removed.
I kind of need a phone in the meantime, I know we're going off a tangent here but if i was to take out a phone contract in my dads name how easy is it to transfer it over to me further down the line and also use my PAC code?0 -
Rather than buying the latest greatest phone on contract, you can buy something ever so slightly less flashy for £100-200 outright and then get a SIM only deal to go with it. (My last one cost me £109 about 2 years ago)1

It wont work I dont think - they're also checking for your ability to commit to two years contract, not just the phone.
The protective marker (i presume it is this?) normally means all applications for credit are referred for extra checks (otherwise what is the point of it).
Chances are, as mentioned, two applications in a short space, they rejected the second on that basis.Peter
Debt free - finally finished paying off £20k + Interest.0 -
Use your old SIM on the contract you had for the existing phone and just buy a phone outright.
You need a new phone not a new contract.
If you cannot afford the phone outright see if an existing credit card has a good 0% offer.0 -
I would ring them up and query the decline, it is possible they maybe able to manually override if they are satisfied with the explanation. You do have the right to appeal a decline.
CIFAS may very well prevent auto accepts purely as a precaution.0 -

To everyone that said buy the phone outright.. I did look into this but was trying to avoid as it seems to cost more on the long run. The cost of the phone + the cost of my £16 a month Sim over the 2 years worked out more expensive than getting a contract for both the sim and phone.
All sorted now anyway cheers for the replies.0 -
