embroidery / flexi hoops
Does any one know a good place to buy these? I need about 6 to use for Christmas presents. Not too bothered what size they are but smaller would be better (won't take so long to stitch then :) ) Thanks

What to do with random bits of holiday fabric
Hi, I have a bad habit of buying random bits of fabric when I am on holidays, with good intentions of doing 'something' with them. They are generally good quality, like rough silk, and usually with a distinctive colour or pattern. They tend to be in the red/orange/gold area, but not actually matching each other. But I…

Fabric for a nursery glider
I'm after a bit of advice. I was given a glider chair for free and I'd like to do it up to fit in with the rest of the nursery. We're spray painting it white to match the rest of the furniture but I'm stuck at which fabric to get to make a cover for the removable cushion. The current cover is fleece but I'm not sure what…

Stamping Metal Spoons
Hi all, I recently bought a lovely hand-stamped spoon for a christening present for my niece. When I got it I couldn't help but think about how great it would be if I learned to do this and stamped spoons to use as gift tags on hampers or stamp out some garden markers and give them to green-fingered friends for gifts.…

Copyright on patterns?
Hi all, I've recently gone back to crafting as a way of helping my mental health. Which leaves me wondering what to do with all the mug hugs etc that I've been knitting! I'd like to (try to) sell them on ebay, so that the hobby becomes cost neutral. But as I'm following patterns from books does that mean that I could get…

Restuffing bean bag toy
My DD's favourite toy dog has gone a bit flat and she asked if I could put some more beans in it. I'm not sure what kind of thing I'm looking for and I was hoping to avoid cutting it open until I'm ready to put the new beans in. Can anyone suggest where to look for new beans for a stuffed toy? I would rather not buy an…

Taking up Knitting again
I haven't knitted for years but (call it old age) I'm thinking about starting again. Can anyone recommed what sort of patterns I should be looking at? I thought of trying baby / toddler items but would these be more tricker than say a simple adult jumper?

Could you spare any craft bits for hospital patients?
Hello, I am in hospital and this hospital has an arts and crafts room (not much in it), they hold sessions people can pop in too or they come to your room if your stuck in bed and do some crafting with you. It has no funding for craft things but tries its best to use anything that is donated by kind members of staff or…

Jewellery Making advice needed please
My daughter will be 9 in November and as part of her party we are going to make some bracelets. I know that the easiest way is to buy beading elastic and just thread them on. I am a bit daunted by all the beads however so would be grateful if someone could advise me on the best beads to buy for this activity and the best…

Looking for copies of The Art Of Knitting
Hi all I've just popped over from the money saving board to ask if anyone has any issues of The Art of Knitting they no longer need. I started subscribing but didn't get further than no 4. I would now like some more issues as I'm getting better at knitting (hurrah!) so if anyone has any they don't want I would be willing…

Any knitters if you can help...how to make a knitted heart
I knit a lot of baby items for presents and to make them extra special I was wanting to include knitted hearts on the gift tags. Below is a picture of them, however I do not have a pattern to make them. I'm sure they cannot be that difficult, does anyone have any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Sewing-what have you made this week?
I have loooked for a similar thread but can't find one. Please forgive me if I have missed one already in existance. My greatest pleasure as an OS MS is sewing, I knit, rag rug and cook too but sewing is my favourite past time. I was retired from teaching on health grounds in 2006 and since then have only actually made two…
