Restuffing bean bag toy

My DD's favourite toy dog has gone a bit flat and she asked if I could put some more beans in it.

I'm not sure what kind of thing I'm looking for and I was hoping to avoid cutting it open until I'm ready to put the new beans in. Can anyone suggest where to look for new beans for a stuffed toy? I would rather not buy an enormous bag when I only need a few. I'm even happy to buy a toy to sacrifice (although I'd better not let her see me doing it!)

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I'd say either buy another cheap bean teddy or stuff it with toy filling instead. I use toy filling all the time for a few of my items and its a lot cheaper to buy.

  • Head for your nearest market I would say!! You can buy small bags of polystyrene beads for repairs. Just remember to use a bit of folded paper as a funnel when adding the beans!! If you buy a new one then you will have to make it smell like the dog to get it to accept it!!
  • Would lentils work?

  • No, lentils are too small and the wrong shape....
  • You could have a look in your local charity shop to see if they have a bean stuffed toy you could use the beans from if the market can't help. Otherwise some rice or lentils mixed in with the beans might do the trick.
